First name, year/model of your car, best time slip if ya have one, web page and anything else ya think is important to include. I would like it for a 'meet the crew' portion of my page I am working on. This info will probably also be used down the line on the Cascadecrew site. So I'll start.

Jess - 1988 Trans Am GTA - 15.84 @86.99

And for you guys not in the SIR/Evergreen/Mission area, track you race at would be nice.

So lets here it!

1989 Firebird - 2.8 5-speed: Sold

Paul - '83 T/A. Currently down rear is shot. Gonna replace with disc rear/MC if I can find one cheap enough, preferably with 3.73 so's I don't hafta change speedo gears too. Driveshaft also has .035 warp in it, so I must replace that too. Oh well, that's why they call this a "hobby"!

No time slip, can't seem to keep it up long enough

Karl Hunter's car is definitely quick when you consider that it is basically a "stock" 305 engine, but it was balanced/blueprinted. If I recall correctly.

Karl, was that time before or after you tweaked the eprom?

My car is Diamond White (Lexus color - Bodyshop just HAD to paint it a "special" white instead of just white like I wanted it, but it turned out pretty sweet)

That 1/4 time is before major PROM tuning - basically the chip we did (Glenn and I) was the chip I was running that time at the strip. it was a lightly modified version of ARAP. Or was it??? I can't remember. Too many Chips!!

Since then I have made major changes - and there are more in store. Lots of work still needed in the spark table. So hopefully I can pick up a bit of MPH mext time out - which will be next year sometime - if at all.

The yellow and blue "Sunoco" car that you may have seen around belongs to a friend of mine - also a Players car - formerly raced by Ron Fellowes.

You too? Yeah, I would say that well over 75% of all my burns (over 200+ now) have been all to do with spark advance. These stock small chamber heads are really finicky about spark advance.

You've probably found the same as me where there is a really narrow "sweet spot" where a couple degrees too little and the engine feels doggy, whil a couple degrees too much and you get audible ping.

Also, while in PE/WOT, try setting the Max Knock Sensor retard to 1* and setting your Total Spark Advance (Main Spark + PE SA) so that it is in your "sweet spot". The silly Knock Sensor on these cars have a tendency to go "deaf" when they get saturated with detonation. They then cease to function and then you actually turn that "inaudible" detonation to "audible".

Once that happens, then the ECM tries to give you ALL the spark advance you were trying to give it, which just further compounds the problem. With your Max Knock Retard set to 1 or 0*, should actually encounter real detonation, the ECM will not try and advance the timing too much further and it is easier to recover. I'm finding the Knock Sensor is great for part throttle highway driving but it's a pain in WOT.

To do it's job, it has to back your timing so much that your engine starts to loose power. You are better to find the "sweet spot" and control it yourself within the eprom. Then you have the best of both worlds enabled when you want it and disabled when you don't.

Hello everyone. I've been lurkin around here maybe a month now. This is my first post to this board. Anyway my name is Brandon Chamberlain and I have a 87 formula(actually the wife does, but I picked it out for her 10 years ago) No idea how fast it goes, its nowhere near the fastest car i've had. Think my truck is even faster but I would much rather drive the formula at speed than any other rig I've had. Anyway heres a grainy rainy northwest pic.

I haven't made any yet. And I'm not sure if I'm gonna make them for a car with or without a cat. Would be easier to make without the cat though. You have a 87RS so that should be close to my 86SC. I have the Y pipe and all that crap. Not sure if I'm gonna change that yet/soon. They would be weld ins if I made any. Got a welder? I don't know how much. Gotta go buy some steel. Bending it is gonna be a *****.

Brad...

Small update Brad, I ditched the 87 awhile back, I have an 86 Z28 now. Don't worry about the exhaust, I have no cat and I'll be going with a custom made system about a week before I install the SFC's and LCA RB's.

Do I have a welder? Not only do I have a welder I have the industrial fabricator and full serve welding shop that comes with him. I can easily stick 2 pieces of metal together but I don't consider that welding, since he builds prototype machinery for a living I let him handle my welding for me.

Must be nice. I have to do all my welding/fabricating myself in a one car garage. Since you have the welding master working for you, I'm sure you don't need someone else to cut a couple of pieces of tubing to weld up under your car. That's childs play.
What type of machinery do you work on? Just curious.

Brad, I just drive a semi. A good friend of mine closed his shop (bike salvage and welding) years ago and went back to work as a fabricator, He works for the same company that I'm contracted to so I see him everyday and I go out to his house on the weekends when I'm bored or I need to work on the 396. We built a 40'X40' shop next door to his house 5 years ago and it now houses the equipment and several of our toys. And bike parts are still acattered over another acre around the shop if you need anything.

I used to do some prototype milling and machining on small aluminum parts, but it's been years.

I think you remember this race

Insert list of excuses here for crappy time:

I weighed 25 more pounds then. (265)
I had a full tank of gas.
My car was running bad.
Reaction time was gimped.
etc

Nope. Not Me.
That is one of the cars that I sponsor for SOLO2 racing around here. That picture is old, too. Probably taken in 2000 sometime.

That car is sort of a "twin" to mine, everyone confused the two cars. That car is a 91 - mine is an 89. Since that picture the owner of the car lost his job, (and his mind) lost control of his life - and the car went into the crapper! He eventually sold it after it got so brutally out of shape - I don't know exactly what he got for it.

That is my car.
Were you at that event - cause if I remember I think I was driving that car that day.

No, I wasn't at the event, I signed up for the UBC sports car club and found that pic on their website.

Wow, that pic of your car is very cool, it looks great.

Kurt 85 Sport Coupe Quadjet. No times as the track won't let me race without a muffler (long story).
