Don't know why, but if you're doing it to save weight, you're not really saving much. Take a look inside the door sometime, the window motor is downright TINY and can't weigh more than a half a pound.

i currently have power windows... sorta. the passenger side motor is dead. the driver side motor is almost to the point where you have to hold the switch and pull the window up to get it to go up. converting to manual windows should be cheaper than replacing 2 motors, plus i will never have to deal with it again.
