T5 from a V6 or otherwise
T5 from a V6 or otherwise
Hi all, I'm looking for a non-V8 T5 trans (just the trans, it's not going behind a Chevy or in a Camaro so the other parts aren't useful) to save money- I'm not going to be putting more than ~150 hp through it. Let me know what you have. I can replace synchros or whatever if needed.

I have a WC T5 from my '91 V6 3.1 (96,000mi) for sale, excellent shape w/ flywheel & clutch assy (8,000mi). No bellhousing, clutchfork and VSS sensor. $250.00 locally. Around $350.00 shipped I believe.

I have 2 v-6 T-5's. One seemed to be fine when it was in my car (behind a v-8, I didn't know it was a v-6 tranny
) and the other one came with my car and I was told it needed a new front bearing. The biggest problem for me is shipping, because I haven't really found a good economical way of shipping them. I'm in Maine, where are you located? Let me know if you're interested!

(the "good" tranny is the cleaner of the two)

How did you do that, custom flywheel? A V-8 and V-6 t-5 have diffrent input shafts, the only way you can put a V-6 T-5 behind a V-8 is with a custom flywheel.

Yeah, therein lies the problem, I'm in Cleveland, Ohio. A bit of a drive to Maine. I saw you also listed your location in New York, is it by chance upstate by Chataqua?
That's only about 3 hours from here.
I expect shipping one of these things would cost upwards of $75, but I'm not sure- what do they weigh, 80 lbs?

Yep they're in the 75-80 ish pound area, and $75-$100 is what it would run to ship one. I checked into it a while back. When I'm in New York I'm at school in Poughkeepsie, not sure if that helps ya out at all, it's not really very upstate. If we can work something out that'd be cool, but the distance is certainly a problem!
