Edelbrock Nitrous Kit, opinions wanted...

OKay, Im craving more power out of my CCC'd 350 in my 84 trans am. I was planning on Vortecs, a new intake and a holley carb, BUT I need to pass emmisions like one or two more times, and at least with my CCC I have a prayer of a chance at passing and not having to rip stuff apart to swap heads just to pass. I figure I can get the same gain as I would with Vortecs with a nitrous kit. The edelbrock one is the cheapest, and money is a big factor. I was planning on rebuilding my carb, tuning it (DR rods and B hangars, I cannot find these stupid things to save my life, the one shop that is supposed to have them I cant find), and upgrading my fuel pump. I would then run a 50 or 75 shot, and the edelbrock at least would limit me to no bigger than a 100 shot as knowing me in about 2 hours Id be ripping off the carb jetting it to bigger and bigger and then having a good reason to cram that 402 big block in my garage in the car (yet again wouldve before but emmisions).

How is the edelbrock kit? My motor is currently running between 8.5:1 to 9:1 compression (most likely 8.5), has 4 bolt mains, and has a new cast crank. I have stock rods and pistons in this motor, from 1971, and the valve seals are worn. Motor has 100,000 miles, but was recently apart and looked good inside, except it needed a new crank and head gasket. My cam specs are .462/.469 lift and 218/224 duration at .050. I do not plan on spinning this motor over 5600 rpm. My stock tranny will not rev over 4500 unless I hold it, so I shift it by hand when hole shotting and would do this with nitrous, not using nitrous in drive. Can I safely run a 50-75 shot? How much of a difference would this make? Would my money be better spent on a torque converter and a shift kit?

I like the CCC carb although many do not. the intake swap I like, but the carb and emmisions could be retained. the edelbrock system seems to be nicer than the NOS from a features stand point. your car already has an alum int manifold so the nitrous alone would probably be nice and the car would function the same as it does now except for the carp rods and hanger, but the nitrous companies jet the kits a little rich anyway. if you tee into the stock fuel pump pressure line do not run more than about 75 due to flow, I would say this even if you had the mack daddy'est mechanical fuel pump (except a belt drive one). for some reason I see on like a monthly basis a guy with a carbed NO2 sys with this tee on a mech pump or a tiny holley blue pump, running lean on our dyno, and when the supply comes short on the demand damage will occur. even jetting the fuel up cant fix it. I usually recomend a separate pump but if a single volumax series (billet) holley electric or BG or Magnaflow or weldon is used with a regulator then maybe you can do it.

b4c if i were to install a holley blue pump just for the nitrous would that be good enough?-if it would be -then how exactly do i go about installing an electric pump along with the mechanical?

After seeing a 69 with nitrous the other day and lloking at how it was rigged, I was wondering the same thing, how do I rig up the fuel pumps and such. How many fuel pumps do I need to run, actually Im just confused as crap.
