Dual supercharged L98 using 6-71s
Dual supercharged L98 using 6-71s
I'm pretty damned sured I wanna try this. I'm laying there in bed last night, thinking of crazy **** to do, and it pops into my mind...what if one were to get a couple of 6-71 superchargers (rebuilt to street specs), find a good mounting setup (fabrication is easy if one has TWO superchargers putting a fire under his ***), and fabricate a housing for the inlet and outlet of each supercharger, having them machined so they bolt up tight with a gasket. The inlet sides could be plumbed to large cone filters, while the outlets get plumbed to an intercooler, which then obviously, goes through the MAF and to the TB.
I know i can pick up 6-71s on ebay cheap as hell. I could get an appropriate intercooler SOMEWHERE for sure, and exhaust tubing could be bent to plumb all this crap in. I could cut the flanges from flat steel, then weld a "cone-type" shape onto each that runs into the tubing.
The only thing is, I have no idea what the 6-71 puts out. Anyone...anyone? I'd like to keep pressure around 10-12 psi. BOVs are cheap.
I dunno, is this a logical setup? I just think it'd look sweet all polished up and sexy under my hood. Plus, I could say I have a dual-supercharged IROC. I just want to have something original under the hood.

First, I have seen a pic in Hot Rod once...looked neat, ran ok, but wow..had to have been a **TCH to see around. Second, theres no way i can think of to put dual 6-71's low enuf to be legal. cheers, Bob
We were looking for custom exhaust shops and ran across this guy. He was completely redoing his 442 after it won some big show a year before. When I saw it, it was body off in primer. That guy has a lot of time and money to waste.
Kelly...i told you to stop drinking the bong water..lol..honestly..it might look cool but jesus what a headache..i understand the need to stand apart from the crowd my friend..but..there are better avenues to take then the double 6-71 setup. The latest article in hot rod or car craft not sure which one but they took a production 454 crate motor with a vortech setup..and cranked out 780 horse..thats some serious power bro..and that was a motor than runs on pump gas!! imagine if you really got seroius with that bad boy!! in closing kelly its your choice big guy and your money but sit down and really give it some thought...later bro..
Heh heh heh...careful on the bong water thing...ede reamed my browneye just for saying i was stoned. Actually...I don't give a s h i t.
