Any comments on this turbo? Pic inside.

I never got the 2 turbos I was looking at earlier but I found 2 of these.

The only thing I'm unsure of is the stuff on the intake side. These are A/R 63 exhaust and A/R 60 on the intake. These look nice and new. Will they work? Also, what would be the best carb to use. I'd like to go with Edelbrock for ease of tuning but will go with a Holley if I have to. Thanks.

Does it say Garrett on it anywhere? It almost looks like a T-3. The .63 A/R ex housing is the "good" one. Those compressors are good up to about 20 lbs of boost, then get real inefficient. I've heard of people running 500-600 HP with 10-12 lbs of boost. Two T-3s on a 5.0 stang is good for 500.

It almost looks exactly like a 2.3 turbo replacement.

It's a Garrett T3, the guy was gonna put them on a plane.
I'm hoping (again) to get these this time. But they're only good for 500 HP? Now that I think about it. My motor may not handle 500HP. We shall see I guess. Thanks.

nothing says you cant lower the boost and run it back up on the package once you start tuning and modifying the rest.

What you have there are Ford Turbo T-Bird turbos. I think those are the early units from a 5 speed.

300 hp on the 2.3 is about the limit on a T3 like that, so 600 hp isn't out of the question. Anywhere in that range is Viper territory, so you won't be disappointed. Like I said, there are a ton of upgrade parts for the T-3. It's a very good center section to start with. New turbine and compressor housings are about $100 each, and wheels are like $70 I think. You can also get a T-3/T-4 conversion (T-3 ex w/ T-4 compressor) that's the same as a GN turbo and they're good for about 400-450 hp a piece. J/Y turbo birds are fairly common, and those turbos also came on some chrysler and volvo stuff. Finding parts and pieces for them is no big deal.
