f.a.s.t. tuning questions.
f.a.s.t. tuning questions.
Ok, I fooled around with the car today, and got the tune pretty close, but it is still idling a bit high. If I close the throttle blades any, it starts to surge. I did notice that my TPS counts are 23 at idle, and the base tune I have in there has "23" around 1/3 of the scale. How do I change this value to make it the "starting point" for the TPS scale? I have looked in every section and cannot figure out where to make the change.
Also, I am at 13.5 af at idle, and it is still wanting to surge any suggestions?
I know these are general questions, but I need something to start with. Thanks in advance! DonB.

I dont know what to tell you about the surging Don. Its tough to figure. I had the same problem when I loaded that file in.
Try this.
Look for an option somewhere. There is a value called, "Maximum TPS% for idle" or something of that nature. I dont remember how to get to it but basically it tells the computer maximum TPS value for idle. So you say 23% is where you are idling RIGHT NOW, you want to set the Max TPS for idle at 24 or 25. Search around in some of the menus and you will find it. That should help smooth you out a little. Then you can fine tune the idle with the IAC P and D gain values.

Thanks< I will look for that again. Can you give me an idea what the P and D gains do? I am taking the FAST book to work, and doing some reading. Mabe that will key me in to what is going on. Thanks Guido!
I am going to look at the timing too, i think i am a couple of degrees off...think this could cause it to surge at idle?

Dont know if timing would. I think it all lies in your TPS setting. I know when I got mine set, it idled down and was a LOT friendlier than it had been.

It doesnt get much simpler than FAST. It is like anything else, takes a little time to learn.
