single turbo = exhaust restriction?
i've been wondering, why is it that, on a v6/v8/v10/whatever (V-configurations) a single turbo on only one side of the exhaust isn't an exhaust restriction...i don't completely understand how it works and i kinda wanted to know why it wasn't, it seems like if there's more of a restriction to one bank's exhaust flow, the other side/bank would run rich or lean or timing would be advanced or retarded or some kind of compensation would be made by the computer...do you all know what i mean?

on single turbo V setup the turbo may physically be located on one side but the exhaust from both sides is routed to it. as far as being a restriction, certainly it is. the tradeoff is that final power output is higher so it doesnt really matter (this is why when people try to tell me a turbo has no parasitic losses I have to laugh). You can never get something for nothing. the key is how much something your getting in the tradeoff.

i was just wondering because i looked at my friends gn and the exhaust on one side is down and the other goes up to the turbo and didn't see anything from the top that looked like it balanced it or connected the two...not that i could really see uch cuz it's all jammed in there...

trust me it Y's over to the turbo from the other side, thats why GN's can only be truely single exhaust no matter how many "tips" they have out back
