whats the difference between 6-71 and a 8-71 blowers
Hello
Ive tried to find out the difference between 6-71 and 8-71 Blower, I thought a 6-71 went on a v6 and a 8-71 went on a v8 but im guessing it just how many cfm's it pushes or am i rong?. Could use some info..:hail:
thanks

You're sort of right. The roots got their designations depending on the number/size of cylinders underneath it.
6-71 means a 6 cyl diesel with cyls displacing 71cu.in each.
8-71 means an 8 cyl diesel...
The smaller blowers (142, 177 etc) are simply their total cu.in displacement with no cyl #.
The actual difference besides the name is the length of the supercharger case. I don't think rotor diameters change much through the series.
