Managing heat from a turbo

Due to the layout of my engine bay, and my desire to keep my a/c system, I am faced with an interesting heat related problem.

The driver's side turbo rests with the turbine housing approximately 1" from the brake master cylinder, and the down pipe runs along side it approximately 1.5" away.

I have a heat shield that has been in use in the car for some time, but the turbo placement doesn't allow it to fit anymore. I can modify it to fit again, but will this thin piece of metal protect my brakes?

In order to make my steel (not stainless) headers last the longest, I plan to Jet-Hot coat the headers and downpipe, and put turbo wrap on the heat shield as a strong thermal barrier. I assume this would allow maximum heat shielding without sacrificing the life of the exhaust system due to corrosion.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this matter? I'm going to add this thread to the list in the Turbo Stuff sticky.

-Sam

EDIT: I know my sig links aren't working. This is a twin turbo, heads, cam, and fully ported/siamesed TPI in the Datsun 280Z in my sig.

coat your exhaust stuff and put some that aluminum foil looking stuff you can get from summit/jegs and wrap your master cylinder/brake lines

I never thought about wrapping the brake lines. That sounds like a good idea.
