That actually raises an only slightly related question… I’ve never messed with the TB off of an LO3, but I have with a number of LO5’s (350 TBI’s in the full size trucks) and crossfire setups. I was under the impression that the TB used on the 4.3, 5.0 and 5.7L all used the same body/machining and the 454’s used a casting machined with slightly larger bores. If the TB used on the 5.0 (305) is the same as the one on the 5.7 (350) then it will flow just under 600 cfm (usually in the 570 range), which is actually sufficient not to be a big restriction till over 400hp NA. You’ll gain some by messing with it before then , and I’ve successfully bored them to 54mm (works out to be enough for just short of 900cfm).
In the reasearch I have done I have always heard like 400 cfm. If they really are just under 600cfm then they are alot better than I thought. I still have seen very few preformance cars with factory TBI and not one "hot" car with it. Shrug thanks for the info though I will have to look deeper into TBI.

i don't think that the runners are anywhere near that big on the 416's. they are factory casting heads used on the early lg4's and l69's. but you can hog them out to perform well. most guys running a blow through setup or carb manifold-efi conversion are running tall single planes with the victor jr. being the smallest intake i have seen utilized. if you want a regular carb n/a motor, i would look into the performer rpm manifold by edelbrock and the holley street dominator. those are both dual plane intakes.

Factory TBI sucks goat nuts. Yes the LO3 heads and cam are terrible but the TBI unit doesn't help things.
