Low-budget turbo stories...anybody got any with the results?

I need power, and I need it badly. 15.1 @ 89.85 isnt going to do it for me that much longer, and I would like to stay away from nitrous (I want it to be consistent all the time without juice). What sorts of things have you people been able to do with turbocharging the TPI, and what sorts of mods would I have to do in order to be able to run a turbo? Also, pictures and final money totals would be greatly appreciated if I could see them. Again, I'll reiterate my car's setup-

305 TPI 170k miles
700R4
2.73 posi
Flowmaster exhaust
K+N filters
Accel ignition coil
mild smoke-on-startup problem

I operate on an extremely low budget.

Thanks.

im in the middle of my buildup, and im expecting total cost to be $1200-1500... 89JYturbo finished his and has about $3000 into it, runs 12.4's on a 350, and he needs bigger turbos... prices can vary a lot... its not as cheap as you may think... cheaper than a blower, but still not cheap

Yes, it can be done cheaply, but not for everyone. I made a lot of my flanges on a mill at work from scrap metal. I got a lot of tubing and fittings for very cheap, because i work for a company that makes truck air-braking systems. My biggest costs so far were turbos, injectors, and whatever IC i choose to go with. I have $650 in it so far, but I still need to purchase/acquire the cold size piping and an intercooler. It all depends on what resources you have, and how much work you can do yourself.
