where to find intercoolers?
just starting looking at a TT setup for my ls1. searched some and couldnt find intercooler like i want.
looking for dual inlets, and single outlet. probably 2.5 in, and 4 inch out.
does any company make something like this, or will this have to be custom made?

Here is one picture. Let me know if you are insterested in some exact dimensions or what the ICs look like inside without the end tanks. I can take pics of whatever you would like to see for the Volvo ICs.

try and look oversea's for intercoolers for Skylines. ive seen a bunch of skylines still running the twin turbo set up and they have 2 inlet pipes and 1 outlet pipe. that might be your best bet as far as what your looking for, not sure about the exzact sizes but it will get you close.

Sounds like the cooler i just orderd up. Try bell intercoolers they custom make whatever you need its not cheap though, mine cost me an arm and a leg.

Nah, that doesn't look all that good for the setup I am doing. Maybe be fine for other stuff though.
The dual Volvo ICs I am using are for a 305ci. The two inlet pipes are 2.5 inch and the outlet is 3". I am feeding it like the pic you posted with two 2.5" pipes on one side and the Volvo ICs are a lot bigger than the pic.
The dual Volvo IC will be about 24"x17"x3" but without the strange dual pipes in the pic. I guess they did that because of the bad space-limited? end tanks. If the end tanks were better then only one pipe would be needed on the dual side.
I noticed then link was to ssautochrome........figures they would sell junk like that.

just have one custom fabbed. buy whatever IC core you want and send it to a reputable shop and have them weld on the end tanks. maybe try dropping the guys a line at www.houseofboost.com and see what they can fab up. they just did a custom twin turbo FMIC for a local 1000 ALL wheel hp skyline. so there work speaks for themselves.

i've searched forever and cant seem to find anything where to buy one like it. if i have to have one made thats okay, just would rather be able to order one pre-fabbed.

That looks OK. Kind of square though. Wouln't you want something with end tanks that are more round.
From what I have read, the driver's side might get a little circular flow. I would think that a venturi effect would occur. Not sure what really happens.

That IC in the pic is a better IC than a powerstroke IC.
It would take a lot of powerstroke IC cutting to get it to fit in a Camaro. Would probably be better off cutting it in halfway and welding it in parallel. Lots of work & dollars.
The GNs have a giant square nose....decent powerstroke IC fit.

You will find that most IC builders & flow researchers have found that most of the cooling is done in the first 6 inchs of the tube. You want a thick IC with max. surface area minimizing the length the air flows through.

It is quite simple ... You want as much heat trasfer as possible.
You get the most heat trasfer where you have the biggest temperature differance between the inside and outsife of the core.
Look at the picture, In each radiator segment you have a good and a bad corner, the rest is in between.
The 'perfect' core dimensions depends on the flow velocity in each direction.
If the outside air flow velocity is too slow ... then the outside air will heat up shortly after entering the core. In that case a thicker core will not do you any good. In the picture only the lower part of the core will be active. In the upper part uncooled air goes straight thru without any cooling.
If the outside air flow velocity much higher than the chagre flow, then only the left part of the core will be active.
In a 'lab' you will find that 'square' core segments will work best if you have the same flow velocity in both directions.
In a car, especially at lower speeds, the charge flow velocity will be higher than the cooling air velocity. Then you need a thinner core with a larger frontal area. That way you get more cooling air volume thru the core to compensate for the lower velocity.
