Nitrous and a mechanical fuell pump...?
In the plans are a Holley DP (maybe 700cfm) and a Carter 120gph mechanical fuel pump to replace my ecm-Q-jet and stock pump. I hope to run a wet system and a 100-150 shot. I plan on a window switch too. Sound OK?
My question is about the mechanical fuel pump. Usually I see in magazines when they install a king-sized nitrous system, they always have an electrical fuel pump and plumb some fuel to go in with the nitrous. I really don't want to install an electrical fuel pump/ regulator... What are my options? Is running a mechanical pump fine?

Running 150 HP shot of spray off the mechanical fuel fuel pump is fine.If you were going any higher than that I would put in a electric fuel pump just for the NOS.

i went with an electric pump because my mechanical didn't flow evenly, surged alot.i would suggest afuel pressure switch to disengage the nos if fuel pressure drops below #5.

craig is right. Buy an elect. fuel pressure gauge (Stewart Warner) and make a few runs and see what your fuel pressure is before you even install the NOS kit. Waite a min. i know what it will be: 1 to 2#. Not enough. You will need at least 4 to 5# fuel pump pressure at W.O.T. So then you go out and buy a Carter HP pump (8#) but then you have driveabilty problems. Eng. runs rich, bad fuel milage ect.ect. The right way is to install a seprate fuel system for the NOS. This is a major job, drop fuel tank ect. ect.,so i mounted a Holly red pump by the fuel tank and run it in conjuction with the stock chev pump. I drew up a complete diagram for this syestem and if anyone needs one let me know.
