supercharger on 130,000 mile 350?????
Just a question I was pondering but, exactly how long do you think an engine with 130,000 miles on it would run with a supercharger hooked up to it???

Car: '86 IROC-Z + Misc. project cars.
Engine: Supercharged + Nitrous TPI 355 CID
Transmission: Art Carr built Th700r4
If you keep the boost at moderate levels (5-8psi) and don't detonate the motor it should last it's natural life that it would without the blower.
The concern is, what shape is it already in now? excessive bearing clearances won't let it last long with or without the supercharger. Ring & cylinder wall wear will allow excessive blow-by and with it power loss. Loose valve guides & worn or damaged valve seals will allow oil to enter the intake tract under vacuum conditions. Oil entering the combustion chamber will increase the likely hood of detonation. Under boost conditions boost pressure can be lost through the valve/guide clearances. I have a buddy with a Buick T-Type with high milage. Under boost it blows the valve seals up off of the guides.
If your engine has been well maintaned and most of the milage is highway milage, it seems to be in good shape, and doesn't smoke at start up or while running it should be ok.
