Help with old style TPI NOS plate!
Help with old style TPI NOS plate!
I have a TPI nitrous kit that is N.O.S. NOS (new old stock Nitrous Oxide Systems) well it is the older style plate that mounts behind the throttle body but it ISN'T like the new one which has a bar. It basically uses two fuel/nitrous fogger nozzles (one for each throttle blade) to get nitrous/fuel to the intake. When I tried to put it on today i noticed that with the fogger nozzles in the one on the driver side interferes with the throttle bracket (specifically the bracket that holds the cruise control cable)so the throttle will only open about 80-90%. That sucks. I am not driving a car that has a throttle body that won't fully open.
I thought about what I could do:
1. Get the new style plate w/ bar ($$$)
2. Cut a part of the C.C. piece of the throttle bracket off, which will keep if fully functional, but might not look too cool. (I don't know if I want to cut my Throttle body)
3. Mount the fogger nozzles under the intake hose right before the throttle body.
4. Mount the fogger nozzles in the intake plenum where the egr passages are (on the bottom right behind the throttle body (kinda of like a direct port setup but not direct)
I was kind of thinking of going 3 or 4 because I could practically make my N20 invisible if I put the bottle in the spare tire well, but I would have to drill some holes in my plenum or intake hose.
Any suggestions? I can probably get the holes drilled in the plenum for free or a couple bucks by my friend who works at a machine shop.
I can put the holes in my intake tube for free. but it would be a pain to patch them up if I took the kit out?
I am kinda really thinking about drilling in my plenum for a few reasons:
1. I wouldn't have a plate behind my T.B. telling everyone I have nos and enlarging the plenum volume.
2. I could easily patch up the plenum with a couple bolts and it would be on the bottom so it wouldn't even be noticable.. plus its IN the intake after the throttle body not BEFORE it.
3. It would be kinda trick.. i don't know anyone who has done it.
4. I could by some new foggers and sell my old plate+related hardware.
Any faults in my plan? Better suggestions? Anyone have a new style TB plate at a reasonable price?
If you want to see what it looks like here's a pic
