Nitrous on an older motor...
Would It be OK to run a shot of NOS on an engine with 130,000 miles on it but runs pretty good? I can't decide if I want to add a kit to my 305TBI car or if I want to spend the money on something else like an intake manifold and 1.6 roller rockers + a jet chip...

I have asked myself the same question. Finally decided to put my money in the bank and keep adding more until I can get that 350HO crate motor for $2100 and drop in there. That way I can have my hp all the time and not keep shelling out $$ refilling the bottle which could easily finish off my 115k motor.

My motor currently has 180k on it, and I have run 100hp shot of NOS on a regular basis for the last 4 years. On a well maintained motor, it wont hurt. Do a compression check to see if you have any weak cylinders...but on a TBI motor, you are probably allright, as they were not high performance to begin with.

See heres the thing, I am a senior in highschool. I want this to run 13's at the track, I don't plan on using the bottle during street races at all. I only want the NOS for the track. I need the L03 to get me through college. I don't make enough money to save up for a 350 (besides it will be wasted when I go to college anyway) so I just need something to run decent for the next few years. From what I hear though, as long as the engine isn't lean and is in good condition, I probly won't hurt by spraying a few times..

do it man. I have a completely stock bottom end in my car (all cast dogpoop and origional rod and main bolts) and probably make close to 500 HP at the crank on my 100 shot. Just pull a little timing out of it and dont get carried away......Its a great feeling
