350 carb questions
350 carb questions
carb, what do I need to replace??
can I put nos on a stock 350 or would I have to beef it up? if so how?
I want to do some mods to the engine for more horsepower can someone tell me a good combination of parts?
THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME

Well, to answer your second question... as long as the engine is in good shape (no knock bangs or whistles) it should be good for about a 75 shot of NOS... you could risk it and try 90, but be touchy feely with that territory. If the engine has any hiccups at all, go really light or not at all... anything after 75-90 you need to start going forged/APR ect... depending on the NOS range...
Your first question, "carb, what do I need to replace??" isn't very desciptive (or maybe I'm missing something)... you need to specify a little better.
Also, you might want to consider a profile with your engine type and car type in it, or tell us what it is, that way we can better help you...
As far as HP adders; !tune-up!, weight reduction (220HP can push a 3000LB car much faster and quicker than it can a 3500LB car) full exhaust w/headers, ram-air w/KNN's, port and polish, cam, NOS... after that start thinking about mods to get all that power to the ground... SFC's, STB's and suspention stuff, tires and ect.
That should be good for starters... you could also slap a turbo or supercharger on it... Jester has a twin turbo 350 SBC, you might wanna talk to him if you're interested. There are also numerous people in the power-adders board that are running superchargers and water-injection and other crazy stuff like that...
Good luck finding everything you need and welcome to thirdgen.org

what I plan to do is put in a 350 carb(chevy) engine into a 87 carb 305 firebird, I want to know if I have to replace any part of the firebird in order to accomidate the 350.
I decided that the most I plan to do as far as upgrading is the full exhaust w/headers, ram-air w/KNN's,cam, intake manifold and NOS.
what would be the best cam and intake manifold to buy from the summit catalog. please state the model number if possible.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.
