Any good.. I've been offerd one with 3k on it. It's been in street use only. The guys asking $1600 for it? Is it too much? He claims the price for a new one is $3650? I it true that it will give about 100hp more on a stock 5.0l with all the mods? What kind of supercharger is it? I know it's not a turbo. Is it any good?

Whipples are about the best supercharger made IMO..with 2 major drawbacks. 1: They're also the most expensive. $4k new is about right. 2: They don't make one big enough to make high levels of boost on a smallblock. They look and work pretty much like a roots blower...but the internal design is completely different.
But if you found a good deal on one, and runnign a stockish 305 you can't run high levels of boost anyway..I say go for it.
Make sure exactly what it comes with, and if it'll bolt to your motor. If you have to spend more on brackets and manifolds...etc..it might not turn out to be such a good deal.

I've been toying with the idea of putting one on my car. They start around $3500 new, and according to Whipple they support up to 650 HP.
