prob with boost vac guage, installed wrong ?

I put a mech. boost/vac guage on the car and started it up, it reads like 20lbs of boost at idle obviosly ive got something backwards, i used the copper install kit and t'd off some brass fittings ive used for vac directly on the back of my stealthram....what gives ? Would it be better to go with some rubber tubing and t into say my MSD BTM ? I should have vac on the guage at idle right ?

Thanks fellas !

yes you should have vacuum, are you sure it's reading boost and not vacuum? could be a faulty gauge
