Supercharger for an IROC

Hey all,

I have been researching and studying FAI and have decided to try a supercharger on the IROC.

My only problem is, what kind of supercharger would or could be used on an 87 TPI? I have looked many places and have not seen a supercharger for an 87. I see them for an 89, but not 87. And the pics I have seen where third gens have a SC is when the AC compressor is on the left side. Where would I go about finding an SC for an 87, or can I just take out my AC system and add a 89+ SC? And what kind of SC's are their?

again, the car is an '87 IROC TPI.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Any centrif. style supercharger can work. Paxton/Procharger. You may have to change out your belt system (i would think), but there are several blowers available for the SBC.

you'll need to upgrade your belt/pulley system to an '88-'92 serpentine setup.

Well, I had heard of Paxton, Procharger, and Weiland, but I couldn't find anything specific. I also kinda started to lean towards a serpentine setup, but I was hoping to save the V-belts.

So, are the SC's more universal, or is their a specific SC I should look for?

If you want to keep the v-belts, look into ProCharger's Carb Chevy kit. They drive the blower with a serp. belt, but drive all the accessories with v-belts.
