How to tell if you have a good blower cam installed?
Is there any way to tell if you have a good cam for a supercharger installed? I know every engine is different and it takes some trial and error to find the great cam, but is there anything that you can look for?
I have an comp xr288hr with a 110 lsa. I've read that generally blown motors run well with a wider lsa, but some dont. I picked this cam because if it doesnt work out, I can use it in another engine.
8-10 lbs of boost
I'd like to do a before and after dyno (don't have the blower on yet) but it would take many pulls to get the timing and jetting perfect to set up the engine twice.
Is there another way? Vacuum reading? Egt?

someting with a 112 lsa would work well with a blower, but this could work well, that cam seems to be a pretty good grind for nitrous use though. on a stock l98 with 200cc sportsman 2 heads, vic jr and 750 dp carb it made 406/385 on an engine dyno.
also on the home page there is a tech article about blower cams.

I know what people say should be a good blower cam, but it isnt a fact. From what I understand, the exhaust side is the most important thing.
But how do you know without swapping the cam? Or is this the only way?
Those are pretty bad numbers for that big a head, and that big a cam......
I just saw the other day at the shop, a 383 with edelbrock rpm heads (170cc intake), same cam, make 470hp, 490 tq.

dont forget the l98 also only has 9:1 CR stock, this was with 76cc chambred heads so it could very well be in the 8's

You're right, larger exhaust duration is the most important thing, well, along with a wider LSA to trap more mixture in the chamber.
One thing you can play with on the dyno, is rockers. Use 1.5 on both side, then quickly swap a set of 1.6 rockers onto the exhaust. That's a common mod to get more lift/duration out of the exhaust side, and supposedly is good for some power in a blown application.
Other then that, yea, swapping cams is how you find out if yours is best suited to your application

Thats a good idea, I have 1.6 on it now, but I could throw some 1.5 that I have on the intake side. I guess if I dont notice any power drop, the exhaust isnt exhausting enough.
