5" Jongbloed hood with 177 blower?

Just thought I'd get your guys take on this.....I was just wondering if I could fit a Weiand 177 or (even better ) 256 blower under a 5" Jongbloed hood?

And if it turns out kinda close, I wonder if one could fabricate a way to seal off the underside of the hood to the top of the carb, and install a newer type panel filter inside the cowl somehow?!?....

I know it's pretty tall, but at least it's better than having it stick out a hole in the hood. Can you say "Cop Magnet"?? lol

BTW - I did a search and didn't come up with anything.

I just installed a 177 on a BBC and it didn't stick up all that far compared to some engine combos I have seen and it fit under the guys 4 inch cowl. Maybe that helps

Yeah, but was that a BBC in a thirdgen??

I took a measurement from the bottom/front lip of my lower intake to the top of my air cleaner on my current N/A setup. It barley fits under my stock hood, maybe 1/2" clearance till it hits - I can't close the hood with a 3" element...Air gap intake, 1/2" spacer and a 750 Holley with a Mr. Gasket drop base 2" element air cleaner. It measures about 10 and 1/4" tall.

seeing a pervious members car with a 177 ontop,a 5" would work. This was on a 3rg gen. A sealed air system to the scoop or cowl would work much better expecially for clearance issues.

Thanks for the reply. Sounds promising then!

Not even sure I'll even be able to see over the hood when I'm driving, to tell you the truth!! lol
By my measurements (guesstimate), the top of the blower will just fit under my stock hood....then the carb and air cleaner would be in the cowl area (above normal hood level) - but no room for a big air cleaner....

Re: 5" Jongbloed hood with 177 blower?

A 122 magnacharger for carbs is more impressive than the 177 and will take less power to turn and in the end make more power from cooler air. They typically run 2.5 to 3 times overdriven but are ment to be. The 142/144/177 blowers run 1.9-2.4 times max overdrive. 1.9 is pretty much the stock overdrive and its already getting hotter than hot after 1 run. You can fit a 122 magna under a small cowl hood and reach your goal for less than a ATI unit and minus the extensive fuel system mods and changes.

122 magna cost me $3100 with shipping and tax and is awsome in weight savings compared to my old 142 blower. The ATI procharger kits cost everybit of that and then you must buy a boost referenced FPR and boost referenced carb. Not a huge deal but if you can mod the carb yourself you'll save some good money$$$.

I can't just describe the insane instant torque of a roots blower. It will make gobs or torque and thats what makes a street car faster than the rest. I've never been in a centrifigal blower car so I can't speek for anything on that end. I would love to ride in one so I can see how well they proform.
