Fuel pump for roots setup
I'm going to be putting a Weiand 142 on my 305. I picked up a Proform 750 carburetor for a good price to put on top. Right now I've got a mechanical 110gph fuel pump. Will this pump provide enough fuel, or will I have to switch to a 130gph pump and a regulator?
I know that I could use an electric helper pump back by the tank, but I don't feel like having gas pour in my face while I'm working upside down underneath the car

yah I'm trying to avoid the sumping situation too. I was planning on using a non-return style regulator, probably an Aeromotive. Hopefully Damon will step in here and help out

110gph is about 660lb/hr and as long as you're only asking 5-8psi of fuel pressure from this pump it can fuel 1100fwhp/880rwhp. Carb. only motors are easy to fuel since they only need single digit pressures, not like me trying to run 80psi.

Re: Fuel pump for roots setup
phillip_helmet - Just for info purposes the instructions on my blower says the following: "The higher power output will require an aftermarket high-volume fuel pump such as Edelbrock #1711 (130 gal/hr), 1721 (110 gal/hr), 17000 (175 gal/hr), 1791 (120 gal/hr, electric), or 1792 (160 gal/hr, electric)".
- So I think your 110 GPH pump will feed your 305 just fine.
- Not trying to hijack your post (well not intentionally), I was mainly wondering if my 5/16" stock return line will handle the 130 GPH pump.
