Hi I'm going to be installing a nitrous kit in the next two weeks. I have a 255 lph pump, 30# injectors (with a different chip to change pulse width), colder plugs, AFPR, an MSD digital 6 and everything else MSD, basically all the precautions except a beefed up bottom end.

I'm looking for a recommendation on what RPM I would be safe running up to and also how those bigger injectors are going to affect my system. Thanks.

 

Anybody? How high of rpms are you guys with stock bottom ends spraying?

 

Nitrous adds basically the same HP regardless of RPM. That means that the "hit" is much stronger in the lower RPMs than in the upper RPMs. I would never use nitrous below about 3000 RPMs. The chances of detonation and engine damage are too great when you hit the button at very low RPMs.

On the top end.... you need to decide if you want the nitrous to stay engaged right through the gear change or if you want it to shut off just prior to the gear change and set your upper RPM window accordingly.

 

Is it a wet or dry nitrous kit?

For dry nitrous you can use it right out of the hole.
You won't get fuel puddling like a wet kit would give you.

I always use my dry kit out of the hole with no ill effects to the engine. I did a 165hp to my 305 out of the hole.

 

It's a wet kit - nos kit 05151. I'm undecided if I want to spray it through the gear change. Leaning towards no - my 700r4 has some miles on it and I'm guessing the reason you ask that is it would put a lot of stress on the tranny to spray through your gears. I don't intend to spray below 3000 either. Thanks.

 

I run a stick and my digital window switch is set on at 3K and off at 6K. But then again my car is a stick.

 

not to change subject or get into your thread buti got a full msd system with the digital window switch i really dont know if i intall it to the msd or nos? any one has any idea ?
