Twin turbo 88 Iroc Z TPI Qs
Twin turbo 88 Iroc Z TPI Qs
Hey there. This is my first post. I guess i should start by saying Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays to everyone. I have an 88 Iroc TPI 5 speed with 2 T3 turbos. they are .48 exhaust and .42 compressor. Im currently getting everything to fit and have questions about when i get it running. I plan to run it at first with the stock ecm and 7 psi of boost with a RRFPR and eventually a MSD BTM. Do i need the BTM right away to run 7 PSI? Also what is a good/affordable RRFPR? How much fuel pressure per pound do i need to start because some FPRs are 8:1-11:1... which one do i need? Im going to be running on 93 pump gas 10% ethanol. Also will be using a wideband to monitor a/f ratios , trying to acquire low 14:1 at idle/cruise and low 11:1 at WOT. also have an EGT guage. Do i seem like im on the right track here or do i NEED to do ECM tuning right away? I was trying to mechanically tune it at first and see if it will work with the stock injectors/ecm. Once again happy holidays, Thanks for any tips and advice!

Good luck with the 5 speed on that combo....they barely hold up on a stock set up. When you blow it up, do your self a favor and swap in an automatic with a loose torque converter >> the turbos will respond alot better to that then the manual and will be alot easier to tune.

The stock injectors will not work, they stop pulsing at about 60psi. The best thing to do is buy some larger (24 Lb/Hr FMS injectors would probably be about right) with custom tuning. You never want to put undue stress on fuel components especially when these cars are so cheap to tune.
