IAT temp sensor location

IAT temp sensor location
I am curious about where the IAT sensor should be located on a S/C engine. Vortech puts it in the Air Intake Tube before it goes into the S/C. I purchased a new Intake horn because I am installing a Intercooler kit. It makes more sense to me to install the IAT after the S/C but before the intake manifold so the computer can get a accurate reading of the air before it enters engine. Anyone have any ideas.

im leavin mine in the upper plenum when i put my motor together this way its showing actual temp in the manifold

it makes sense to have it in front of the intake but after the intercooler. but it really is just matters what kinda FI your running. if your running a stand alone, then yes, if your running a code like the $8D. then there's a ton of things posted about mat sensor placment. they have figured out what to change in the bin when you relocate it. if your running say $59. I don't think they have that done the same way. and while I have mine in the intake tube with 59, since I came from a standalone and now run 59. I'm thinking of going back to in the intake its self because I doing think the bin is handling it right. I believe it uses the mat for most of the temp offsets. because there's a coolent based table that isn't used. I feel it should be if your going to run the air temp sensor in the intake tube. because the air spends so much time in the intake on any kinda long runner set up. but you can only choose mat or the coolant table. not both. for air temp correction.

That is what I was thinking. Apparently Vortech doesn't think it is that important. I put a thermistor in the intake plenum and the temps were almost 190 degrees hotter than what they should be because of the compressed air. I think the ECM changes the fueling amount through the ECM based on intake temps, that is why I was trying to get the engine temps down to a more reasonable amount. And I have to move my IAT sensor to the intake plenum and not the Vortech intake cold air intake tube. I am running a 7749 with $59 on a TPIS M/R.

With boost you always want a sensor that responds to quick temperature changes. The stock TPI IAT is WAY TOO SLOW. You also want it to measure the most accurate temp. entering the head.
I install the IAT right before the throttle body usually. I also use a 1990 V6 MPFI IAT sensor. It responds quickly but is more fragile than the v8 TPI IAT.
