a fast twin question

i got a sbc twin kit with 2 .63ar, hot side turbos, my question is will these headers work in our cars without hittins strut mounts or the brake master.

i can't see those fitting without vast modifications, along with cutting the hood where the turbos come out

Re: a fast twin question

Probly touch the brake master cylinder on drivers side. my setup is very close and i made it the best i could to clear everything. I thought about copying that type setup but it just wont work on the drivers side

GOod luck with getting downpipes in there. Thats the main issue with a setup like that. 2.5" can snake through well enough but limits your power. less than 550-600whp i think 2.5" can work but hard to say. My .68 a/r turbos use a 3" and i barely got it to fit.

Also those may push through the hood like my setup does

Re: a fast twin question

yeah thats the main thing im lookin at, its close. but what about manual brakes, i mo it will suck stopping but , and power wise im only lookin to beat a friends fox body, so just lookin for around the mid to low 11. but i will post pics just dident really think they were needed after you 400 build, witch i got to say is a very nice set up,

but also what about cutting the flanges and goin a 90 and relocatin the turbos further up. or should i use something like the ebay style, and i also have my shorty headers i can try and fab up a set to work, but i will take pics and post them just really dont no how to do so , but ill do what i can

Re: a fast twin question

cutting the flange and doing a 90 to hang the turbos up front more may work out well. Then somehow get the downpipes to go under neath the manifolds then down stock locations like stock shorty headers. COuld work.

Manual brakes would give you alot of clearance and if done right the car will stop pretty good

ok another ? i have a std bore 350 4 bolt was gona bore .o30 over but got a good deal on a set of forged pistons, there forged pistons with a .068 dish, on scat 4340 rods, the motor has 60cc heads and had them pored pad polished, and 202 int and 160 valves, and a 488 cam both in and out, where would my compression b around is it even safe to run turbos,

was also lookin into meth injection, but only if its a need not a want

Re: a fast twin question

Depending on the dish it sounds like it would be somewhere in the mid lower 9's to 1 compression with a 64 cc head, closer to high 9's with 60 cc head. Probly be ok for mild boost

Re: a fast twin question

wow thats a thick gasket. Is that calculator correct? A flat top 350 piston usually gives 10.2 to 1 on a 64cc head. Any serious dish should be in the mid 9's to 1. I dont know how much .068 dish is in cc's but most dish pistons seem to be 12cc or 16cc. 12cc with 60cc heads will give 10 to 1 with .041 gasket and zero deck on a 355 motor

Re: a fast twin question

sry if you mis under stood but it is a 350 was gona do a 355 but i got a set of forged pistons brand new. for the 350 so just went with std bore, and saved the money on the mechine work.

so its a 350 with 60cc heads, with the .068 dish.
ill look up the pistons a see if a can get the -cc numbers

but when i do the .068 into cc it comes out to 1.1xxxcc.
but how much boost would b safe to run, its those pistons and a set of eagle h beam rods 5.7in. on a 350 with stock crank, and a 4 bolt main, with a set of moly rings, my wastegates have 13lbs springs in it i believe but i do have other springs

Re: a fast twin question

manifolds are fine for that. You probly dont wanna go over 10 lbs I think with that setup, but you have to verify the compression ratio for sure.

If the tune is good it can take some boost but thats the tricky part. 10lbs will put that thing into the 11's easily.. You only need 400whp to go mid high 11's and that can be done ona stout 355 n/a motor

Re: a fast twin question

i did also get a 1182 stock forged crank for the motor. so on a very stout 350 with forged internals and around 8-10psi 11's is possible

Not to my knowledge....

The firewall in the 3rd Gen is a different angle then the 4th Gen firewall. The adapter plate on the master cylinder is made to match the 4th Gen firewall angle.
