roots supercharger for 87 GTA?

I have an 87 Trans Am GTA and i'm looking for a good supercharger. I don't really want to go with a centrifugal supercharger. I'd rather have a roots with a blower on it. I can't seem to find anything on any site for my year.

Any help?

Roots types are universal you buy a kit with a manifold that fits a sbc or bbc, or whatever. You can find the kits at summit, jegs, the blower shop, doug herbert, racing junk, ebay, etc etc. There are meny different size roots blowers, 142, 177, 4-71, 6-71,8-71 and several others. Chack out holley.com and follow the weind link.

Probably, you can low boost with stock pistons not much. I'm not a supercharger guy, but if you don't wanna burn up a piston then you will need plenty o' gas. Honestly you would be better off starting with heads and a cam that would complement a blower later on. I like Dart heads, you can buy a supercharger cam. Good exhaust is needed to make a supercharger work to the best of its abilities. Look around on superchevy, carcraft, and chevyhiperformance for some example builds. There are alot of people running stock stuff with blowers with good results, but if you have the money to buy a blower then you would be just as well off building a flat top 383 with 72cc Dart heads and saving back up for a blower and make big numbers. But I could be completely wrong, just going off stuff I've read and no real experience so maybe the experienced guys will chime in soon. There is alot to change when you get blown, I'm hoping to go 421 with a 8-71 not this season but next. Just a few more things to buy

The one thing you will have to do is either decide to a) drive the car without a hood b) cut a hole in the stock hood to go around the blower c) get a different hood to cut up or d) get a different hood with enough of a cowl to close over the blower. I don't believe any of the roots type blowers will allow the factory hood to close.

Stock internals will work for low boost but you'd be better off building a new motor with premium internal components to set you up for the blower later.
