nitrogen charged intercooler?

Last night I became interested in tubos and figured I'd read up on them a little bit. I want to build a twin turbo 383. Anyway, I started thinking about intercoolers, and air turbulance and all that, and had an idea. What if you took a pipe simmilar to the cold air intake pipe and ran it to you intake from the turbo? pretty normal so far. now take that pipe and warp it with coils of tubing kind of like the condenser on a still (yeah I know I'm a bit of a *******), and then enclosed it in another pipe maybe with some insulation. Now charge this tubing with nitrogen and have the system run through an air conditioner compressor to circulate it from the nitrogen tank through the tubing and back to the tank. Has anyone ever tryied this before, or is there something I'm not aware of that would make a set up like this a really bad idea other than the possibility of freezing importany parts of your engine if a leak developed?

Re: nitrogen charged intercooler?

i would just get a cheap nos kit and rig up either a nozzle or a spray bar on the intake ...wire it on a wot switch so its only cooling the air intake when your fully boosting....or you could just get a good ol fashioned intercooler

Re: nitrogen charged intercooler?

My thinking on all of the spray bar or cooling the intake piping and what not is it's alot of work and cash for not much result. How much does it actually reduce the IAT? How much greater is that increase over an intercooler? How much does that reduction actually increase the power level? I know that one of the performance magazines did a intercooler spray bar on an intercooler and it was only like 5 hp increase and they were thinking that was because some of the nitrous was getting sucked into the intake not from actually cooling the intercooler. From what I have found the most effecient way to cool the intake temps further than an intercooler alone is a very small shot of nitrous.
