EGR?

I want to buy the budget stomper from jegs to replace my 305 in my 84 camaro but it says that the engine requires EGR idk what that means and if I have on the car or not can anyone help me out ?

EGR is exhaust gas recirculation valve, and no engine requires it, though many smog and emissions laws will depending on where you live, look for a thick cast iron pipe coming off the exhaust manifold to an apparatus, that has another, this time thin and slightly flexible metal pipe going to the intake plenum, though I don't think carbed cars have them.
