Nitrous or a Supercharger Carb motor
Guys, I cant make my mind up I'm looking at building a motor but dont know which way to go. I dont have tons of money but dont mind spend a little more to get a good fun daily driven engine. Which is the better way to spend my money. Please feel free to make any suggestions. I will be redoing the 700r4 and using 3.42 rear gears.
The first engine*
Chevy 350
Aluminum Fast burn heads
280H cam
770 holley double
victor jr intake
upgraded hei distrubor
edelbrock short exhaust manifold
maybe some pistons to bring comprestion up to 10-11
150 hp shot of zex
The second engine*
Chevy 350
vortec heads cast iron
supercharger cam
c and s blow thru carb
edelbrock shorties
vortec supercharger 5-7 psi

Re: Nitrous or a Supercharger Carb motor
what are you going to be using for a rotating assembly? id say you could probably get away with a stock crank and rods for the nitrous motor but anything with boost i would go fully forged.
id say you nitrous motor would probably be a good mid to low 13 sec motor before the spray as well and be fairly streetable with that cam, its smaller than mine and it does ok.
however with a supercharger you could have all the power that your nitrous motor makes while its being sprayed anytiime you want. the other advantage to supercharger is you get the power and maintain streetability a little better because you dont have a radical cam.
but in the end the choice is yours and nobody can make it. i went the route of a cammed up sbc that makes around 400 horses. runs high 12 and pics on most things i ever see around town. so theres my 2 cents
