Getting there: 8.95 at 156 pump gas only

Finally got a full pull in. Track was cold and car kept breaking loose 10-20 ft out no matter what i tried. Pedaled to a 1.46 60 ft and ran out the back door. Tune was conservative. Pulled 4 degs at 130-150 deg iat and 8 over 150, and i was seeing 168 deg! So only 14 deg at top end. Ideally it be 22 but not sure how pump gas would like it.

Attempted to make another race gas pull but broke converter or something in front of trans like pump seal as its puking all under the bell and down the front under converter while running

Nice run, I hope that your converter issue is minor. Seems like your transmission is causing you problems lately. At least you'll have the winter to try and button it up.

Nice run Orr even with back peddling the car, that car is moving out. For sure one of the fastest street cars on this site. I sure wish I could run my car is this weather, but I have to wait for my rotating assembly gets back from the machine shop. I had to get it re-balanced with the new lower compression pistons. It needed a rebuild anyway after ten years of abuse and then going turbo pushed the piston rings to their limit allowing oil to get in the cylinders under boost.

Re: Getting there: 8.95 at 156 pump gas only

Yeah this time of year is awesome for power but hard for traction sometimes. Hard to say, car was acting abit different off the line than what i was used to

A good freshen up is always a good thing. I have a small list of things i want to go over this winter to make sure its ready next spring. I just wanted to enjoy driving it over next month before winter starts. Oh well hopefully it aint to bad in damage.

Given all the issues i fought this year, seeing an 8 on that slip makes it all worth it. If i didnt get it that day i am not sure i could have taken the disappointment and may have given up

I think the car could have gone 8.8x or even 8.7x if you didn't have to get off the gas. Anyway good luck with the tranny. Hopefully I can get my car back together before Christmas, family comes first though.

Looking good Orr.. glad you reached your goal before it got too cold! What are your back tires these days? I know you went to 15's a while back.

be interesting to see what the custom 3582's with t4 p trim turbines do on my setup
afraid to go much larger without a full port on those heads of mine

maybe a 66mm compressor i can get away with with the lightly ported 200cc heads
hard to say with only 353 cubes

Lower cubes helps. I am seeing high iat rise so thinking comp are near maxed but it should be. Seen 5.0's make 550-600 whp on t70 singles

Re: Getting there: 8.95 at 156 pump gas only

I have his older rhs based 2.72's which are a 245cc head. Maybe slightly big. I need more cam to take advantage i think or check into the backpressure first and monitor compressor efficiency, to see if its maxed out or if its just intercooler. Either way more rpm would likely wake this car up up top but then bottom end gets suspect
I think i can do what i want it to do on what i have, 30 psi boost tune on good gas will add alot of power

Re: Getting there: 8.95 at 156 pump gas only

Better 60's today but slightly warmer out and trans may have been slipping, hard to say it seemed ok on temps but car seemed down on power. Probably some timing pulled out from hotter iat
Couple of 9.0's and one good pass slight spin, 8.93 at 156.

Also went 1.35 60 on a gate spring only pass. 9.40 at 145

The turbos off this motor are for sale if anyone was interested. I dont have to sell right away but looking to upgrade. Considering turbonetics 7268 hurricane series. Just not sure yet. I need something that can get me 85 ish lbs/min and not convinced these T70 mp's can. Not sure if the magnum/new masters 76's can either

Your 1/4 ET's are almost as quick as my 1/8th ET's! Friggin awesome, I bet it's a rush. My NA 414 is already starting to feel slow. You can never get enough power eh?

Its all relative. Even 8.9 power is getting old. Still feels pretty good when it hooks second on street but the competition keeps growing and getting faster so i feel like i need to step up

Yup same old mill from 09. Dart shp 400
Never getting an ls

Now my decision is up the turbo and see what it will do, or max these t70's to see what i can get and then spray a shot to make up the difference to where i want to be if needed

Never is a loooong time. But why do you say that? Just got something to prove, preference or what? I mean I get it whatever the reason but man the LS platform looks like it is a great starting point. Basically the first redesign since what 1953?

I hear ya brother. My deal is trying make my IROC fast but keep it totally streetable and looking stock. (No hood scoops- factory wheels- stock interior etc.) When I do make mods I try to keep it looking like it might have come from the factory that way. Pardon the hi-jack, back to your car, it seems like you've pushed the power envelope pretty far. Especially for that 50 year old platform! Great job man.

64/74 wheels with .96 housings. Have .68's if desired. These .96 start spoolin around 3400-3500 and in good boost by 4200-4300 on my 400. Smaller cubes and less wild setups should go .68's

Looking for 600 for the pair. Shipping be 35-40$ my guess

I am going to change the proper grammatical use of a word. That car's power is locomotive. Just imagining the kind of power needed to get a full bodied, heavy street car down the strip in under nine seconds makes me giddy. I love it.

Uhh according to Wallace racing site calculator- 8.96 @ 156 3750# =

Your HP computed from your vehicle ET is 936.71 rear wheel HP and 1,040.79 flywheel HP.
Your HP computed from your vehicle MPH is 1,026.09 rear wheel HP and 1,140.10 flywheel HP.

That's just stupid!

That was likely around 900-930 whp so that calc is pretty accurate. Next spring will have alot more.

The dyno run made 1009 but its not the same tune as it was on the street and wehad some safetune failsafes which pulled timing for hot intake temps. So after 1/8 mile i may have lost 60-80 whp. Hard to say

You do need more power dude. Under a grand at the tires just won't do for a heavy street car like yours. Lol. If be happy with half that power. For a while at least.

Lol my buddys trans am is around 1150 and might be higher this year. Other friends fox body made 1052 on e85, might be alittle higher this year. Local guys alpha 12 gtr just made 1207 on c16. Theres a viper i gotta race somewhere north of 1100 we think. Two supra buddies making over 1000 now and one i will never touch making somewhere near 1400 lol

I gotta get race gas tune to have a chance lol. I hope these turbos can make 1200. Then i may add a bottle for 100 more

God I drooled over the mid-90 Supra turbos for so long. They can be made so fast and for a ~3 liter 6 they can make serious power. But they're not as light as you might think. Pretty close to the 3rd gen F body weight if I remember right.

Your up somewhere near Philly right? I'm originally from near Lancaster and it seems there is a lot of performance guys, shops, cars around there. Where I'm live now there doesn't seem to be as much activity. Or maybe I just don't get out enough. It seems they are mostly serious drag racers and not so many hot street cars. But hey at least I have a very good 1/8mi track about 5 miles from the house.

Sorry to get off track...

Oh I just saw your sig says Pittsburg. Close enough lol.

Re: Getting there: 8.95 at 156 pump gas only

My friends supra was around 3400. Went 5.5 at 140 in 1/8 mile. Very fast, est 1500 hp from the logs. Not sure i buy that. Did make 1240 whp tho, but required big nitrous shot to spool the twin 62's

Yup from western pa. Scene is decent out here

Re: Getting there: 8.95 at 156 pump gas only

The SBC vs LSx reminds me of the flathead vs SBC the old timers talk about. How so-and-so put in a SBC in Ford 194x something and smoked everyone, but some guys kept the flathead cause they didn't wanna do what everyone was doing.

SBC, LSx, BBC, etc...........if ya wanna go faster it always cost more, but starting with a good base always makes sense.

I would think that block can handle more than 1200 BHP. Why not crank the boost up more?

Re: Getting there: 8.95 at 156 pump gas only

Shp block. They say 800. I've been over that for 4 yrs no issue. Dont know anyone making more than 1200 on it. Talking wheel power. Huge loss thru the th400. Its likely 1500 crank. I'll be up there with an elite few if not the first to do it lol who knows.

1200 rear wheel is what i calculate it can make at 30 psi. Only 3 bar map so cant go to much higher without being unable to control fuel and timing

It did 1009 on pump at 25 deg timing and 24.5 psi. Figure race gas with added timing may make 100 more hp? Hard to say. Unable to determine that. If it is 100 hp, i might beable to make 1300 on 30 psi.

But then again not sure i have enough compressor and def think i'll be short on fuel from the injectors. We need to experiment there. 3 walbros at 40 ish psi base, 30 psi makes 70 psi fuel pressure. I only have 105-ish lb inj at 40 psi. 127 at 58 psi. 58 base plus 30 psi may really hurt the 3 walbro 255's

Meth inj for fuel may happen
