Next step...

I'm at a bit of a crossroads with my car. Current setup is a 358, 10.2:1 compression, fastburn heads, zz409 cam(I know, I know)and superram. Other mods as well, but those are the big ones. Also a dana 44 rear, shifting my own gears.
Traction is the biggest issue the car has on street tires.
I'm trying to figure out the next step now. I like the idea of a centrifugal, although I'm not opposed to a turbo, I hank the blower would be simpler. I have also considered spraying it up to a 200 shot. I know the compression is kinda high for forced induction, could I keep boost low on pump gas for the street, then race gas for the track on higher boost? Just lookin for some input.

Why would you say that?

Most of the old adages regarding turbo's are false. Your compression ratio is fine up until a point with pump gas, there are way too many variables for one tell his or herself it is detrimental. For an everyday street car, higher compression with lower boost is ideal for where you already are, and for E85, your static compression is actually on the lower side, that right there should tell you everything. The benefits of effective compression ratio only comes into play when you plan on running a lot of boost pressure, and it is not uncommon for the lower compression engines to see upwards of 30+psi of boost pressure taking advantage of that concept. If you need a better understanding of what actually takes place when you have higher than normal compression mixed with boost pressure and why everybody seems to be scared to death over it just say the word, you will soon see there is nothing to be afraid of, like everything else, it can be tuned for...

Re: Next step...

E85 would be ideal for that motor

Else good intercooling can get away with some boost on pump gas. Meth inj to be safer. If you have a real good air to air or better yet, air to ice water intercooler system, it will work fine

Just watch the timing with any fastburn head chamber. It can be sensitive. Pull alot and sneak up on it in the tune

Nitrous however is the easiest to work with. Dont have to change anything

Thanks for the input. Maybe I'll start looking into the boost route. E85 , strangely,is still not that common here. Fabbing up for an intercooler doesn't bother me at all. The bottom end is strong enough to handle just about whatever I want to throw at it (Kryptonite crank, Oliver rods, Ross pistons, billet mains, 4 bolt bowtie block). I have another set of heads I could put on, but I think it would be a waste with the superram.
Anyone here running boost and nitrous????

No need for boost and nitrous unless you have spooling issues
