Hello,

I'm buying an 87 Trans am with what appears to be a Praxton SN89 blower with the 87 v belt pulleys. She has a starter booster and has had her windshield washer tank converted to inject liquid NOS, or maybe an alcohol/water mixture. I currently know very little about the car other than what I have pictures of, or have been told. So just wanted to introduce myself and my project. Pictures of the car and the engine bay can be seen in my album.

My first question is in regards to the belt setup for the supercharger. The current owner has not driven the car for a couple years due to the fact that the blower only has a single belt where it appears that there should be 3. He has been worried that he would damage the car or blower if that belt were to let go. So that being said, in my initial research to try and determine the model of the blower, i found some images of other Trans/Birds that had a similar belt setup that also only had a single belt. Should this setup use a 3 belt set or is the single belt used, with some difference being imparted by which of the 3 available "grooves" you install it to?

Moving this to the Power Adders forum. You're more likely to get usable answers here.

Congrats. I don't know about the belts for the Paxton, but there is no such thing as liquid NOS. It is most likely methanol injection.

I'll take your word on that. I know nothing on that setup yet. Prior owner used that terminology and I thought it a little strange myself. While I was researching the Supercharger I ran across an article that mentioned something about a 50/50 water/alcohol system and thought that sounded more feasible.

You should use three belts to avoid slip. Windshield washer is for water meth injection.
If you remove the belt you should be able to run the car with air flowing through/ past blower. It worked that way on a serpentine set up so it should be the same

Thanks! I'll post back in a few weeks when I pick it up and bring it home on what else I find.
