Hello!! New to this Forum..A vette Owner okay here?
Hello people,
Ive been lurking here for some time...I currently own a 86 Vette and come from the corvetteforum...however I used to own a 86 Firebird for quite a few years before buying the Vette.
I miss that car alot and wish I still had it today...Im beginning to think of buying me another F car down the road..to go with my Vette and Lumina that I own now.
So I plan to hang here with you all and hope to learn more or share what Ive learned back.

yeah but most of us wish we had vettes.
here's something i've noticed. one camaro owner is on the road, and sees another camaro owner. chances are they give each other a thumbs up, or a nod or smile.
I see a vette, their heads don't even turn. like they are stuck straight. i give a thumbs up and look like a dork. they seem to be crabby old people all too many times. people for the most part don't seem to wanna mess with a vette.

Welcome! I've only been here a short while too. I've learned a great deal here. My two favorite cars--thirdgen F-bodies and fourthgen corvettes. A 4th-gen corvette will probably be my next car purchase(who knows when that'll be, LOL).

There are already quite a few members that have both examples in the barn, so please join in! Tell you friends. As long as there's a bow tie in there somewhere, we don't discriminate to the point of excluding a real enthusiast.
Given the close relationship between the propulsion systems of the two breeds, there isn't much reason not to share thoughts and ideas. I sure would be nice to have an independent rear, though. Not that there aren't a few ThridGens around here that have a single transverse leaf in the rear...

Thanks for the great welcome!! I know since the Vette and F cars share some similiar engines and etc, we can learn from each other.
A little background about me...I do all my work myself on my cars...I worked at a Caddy dealer back in 92-94 to learn how to repair cars...picked up quite a bit them 2 years...since then Ive been shadetree at home and gotten to know the TPI and etc pretty well.
Dont feel bad guys about the Vette owners not waving..I still get alot of "no waves" back from them old farts driving new C5' and some C4's...im 29 and almost every club Ive checked out or Vette shows, theyre all out of my age league.
Can you say class of 55 reunion?
Thats what it felt like to me...but not all is bad...Ive had my Vette for 6 years now and Im missing the fun of an F car alot..
especially a 3rd Gen. car.
All the mods I wanted to do for my 86 a few years back, the Vette already had stock for me to play with, which Is why I switched.
I hope to get a 88-92 GTA or a 89 Turbo TA down the road to play with.Especially a white one..I just love them in white....my 86 Bird was white too...damn sharp cars!
I feel at home already here..thanks again!

all too many times we forget about the arrowhead. 95% a post will start off like this. "I was driving my camaro today, when I realized there was a firebird badge on it. I freaked out, pulled over got out of my car, and realized that since 1997, I've been driving a firebird." We can't help it we always forget about the firebird. half of the reason is that there are less birds out there, and birds usually cost a tiny bit more, as pontiacs are higher on the GM foodchain. chevy is cheap perf. pont. is slightly more expensive perf. and extra comfort. that's the was it's always been.
if I offended anyone who just realized they have a firebird and not a camaro, I'm sorry.

I think Vader's talking about the engine, which in a thirdgen and a Corvette is a "bowtie" and not an "arrowhead".
All those who have done/are considering Pontiac 400 swaps can leave now.

When my girlfriend drives her camaro, she always waves at the camaro's that she sees. Most of the time if it's a girl, they don't know what to do, and I think the guys get a little freeked that a girl is waving to them. Just know that some girls CAN appreciate these cars!
------------------
With this car, it's never a question of "can I...", only "will I..."!

We even like the Buick-Birds here, so there's no discrimination - if you've got good taste you're certainly welcome.
