Banks twin turbo?

New guy here saying hi.......

Wondering if there are any banks twin turbo cars out there anymore.
Would love to find others with a factory banks twin turbo system.
I'm guessing a lot ended up parted out, on other things etc.

Id also be willing to buy parts if anyone has them kicking around.
This is my car, I still have to finish putting everything back together in the engine bay, but I hope to have it out next year.

Re: Banks twin turbo?

my car had a banks twin turbo setup on it in the early 90s. '92 or so i believe. twin t04b's. first with the tpi intake and was later swapped to a miniram. accel dfi. th400, ford 9" with 3.50 gear, and cats were still on it so it could pass emissions in the Pennsylvania/west virginia areas i think it was.... i believe it made 500-550whp in that configuration.

the guy i bought it from purchased it in '97 and drove it down to SC where he kept it until 02 when he sold it to me. he had already sold the banks stuff just before i purchased the car as a roller. i installed an LT1 with nitrous and ran that for awhile, but one of my goals is to get the car back to some sort of resemblance to its original build with the twins.

That's cool.
This one still has the factory Rajay turbos, wastegates, etc.
everything is how it should be, outside of the carb. I bought a CSU unit for it, because the modified holley wasn't the best.
Have a bunch of work to do to get it mobile, but should be pretty neat when its done.
All sorts of nostalgic performance about it.

Re: Banks twin turbo?

Congrats on your find! I'd love to have one of those in my collection! 500hp back in the 80's was A LOT for a daily driven street car! Wonder if you'd contact banks if he'd be interested in restoring it? Can't be too many of them left out there.

Re: Banks twin turbo?

I saw that car on ebay and it was too cheap to pass up., I couldn't get shipping arranged for it... what an awesome car that is. I would have loved to have it. Good luck, sounds like it found a good home.
