Timing questions for ATI guys
Timing questions for ATI guys
I've talked to goldenwest performance a couple times now and they are telling me to only run 20 degrees total timing and an 11.8 a/f ratio. is this what you guys are running or tell me what you think I should do !
I don't want to break anythimg this time.

why did you break last time-diagnosing the cause of the initial failure is the most important factor in order to keep it from happening again. that said-ati likes to have most factory original spec.'s in place when running their stuff. setting total timing with a computer controlled engine mgmt. system (especially one which incorporates a knock sensor) is kind of tough. unless someone else has a procedure im unaware of. set the initial at 6btdc(i think that is your spec.) or if you want to start slower and "feel it out" go to 2btdc and work from there. as far as a/f ratio that can be inferred-roughly-directly off the o2 sensor signal wire in the form of millivolts.not less than 900mv at boost is safe rich condition.hope this helps-frank
My suggestion would be to monitor your oxygen sensor voltage (should be in the 900mv range) and knock sensor, start with your timing at a minimum and slowing start giving it alittle more timing until you start seeing knock retard happen. the more timing that you can run the more power that you'll make.
