Anyone have any hints on using nitrous oxide?
My motor is well prepared to handle 150 shot. I just ordered the 150 hp Nitrous Express Kit for my TPI, My motor maybe well equipped but i have a feeling tranny or rearend is gonna blow chunks. I have 3.23's out back and a t-5 tranny, its a dry system as well. Any of u have any hints or info that the manual dosent tell u? Thanx

why use a dry system? thats the easiest way to have a nitrus explosion. i run a 100 shot wet system in my 87 305 and have been using it form more than year and have had no problems. my 305 is amost bone stock with 115,000 miles on it too.
on spray best is 13.32@99.98mph
on motor best is 14.56@94.79mph
mods: k&n, 3.73 richmond gears, flowtech headers with side pipes, 100shot nos fuel injection kit, msd 6al, march under drive pulleys, everything else is stock.
so my suggestion is to convert that system to a wet system

i thought that dry systems were Safer than wet?
guess im wrong. Wet system is fuel and nitrous at the same time. isnt it? I dont think its too late, Can u explain why wet is safer? Excuse my stupidity gotta read on some more books
With a dry system, you are counting(hoping) on the computer to adjust the fuel for the nitrous. With the wet system, you tap into the existing fuel supply and control the amount of fuel with a jet. With a stock computer I would trust a wet system over a dry. I had a wet system on my '91 RS 305 TBI. With a completely stock motor I ran a 150 shot. No problems.

If you got a reprogrammed chip for nitrous, wouldn't the tune be for nitrous all the time even when you are just on the motor? The Venom kit sounds trick and expensive. Never heard of it. All the same, I would rather run a line from the schrader valve in the fuel line to a solenoid. That way I could control what was happening by changing a jet. Been there. Done That.

Venom Kit is not that expensive it 620.00 but its worth every pennie of it trust me. It is a wise investment. I intstalled it on a 2001 Cobra last friday. They dont make it just for imports they make it for Domestic cars too. The make a kit for mostly all the fuel injected Camaros. I just think that the Venom kit would be easier for a Novice Nitrous person. I didnt even know how to install nitrous before and the kit made it really easy. Nice and clear instructions plaus everything is color coded too. And that makes things easier. I just thoush he would like to know about the kit and anyone thinking about installing nitrous. I mean if your way works for you go for it but I am just explaining anther way. I may have been wrong about the chip but I didnt mean tuned for nitrous I meant tuned for a better fuel curve than it already had. And thats what alot of chips do advance your timing somewhat and give you more fuel.
Excuse vortech305's ignorance. He has only been on this board for 2 years now and not learned a damn thing.
Ive seen him post this question a whole bunch of times in the past. You'd think after 2 years a guy would learn something.
Wait... im still a blockhead.
Move onto the next post. Nothing to see here.

When did i ever post anything about Nitrous??? U must have issues if u have a problem with my posts, i mean there just posts, Same thing like the rest if u dont like it Dont read it. As for the rest thanx for the helpful hints, I just called summit and returned the nitrous before it was getting shipped out and gonna get my credit back. Thanx, Im gonna look into the Venom kit.

Good call on looking into the Venom Performance kit. This will be worth every pennie of the money you spend on it. Just some helpful hints when you get the Nitrous kit. Read the instructions before you start to tear into your car trust me this helps. And look for a place to mount the computer module its small but thats what took most of the time was to find a place to put it. It is held on with a double sided tape. And also look for a place to run the nitrous line through if you doint want to drill a hole in your firewall. Thats what we did with my friends Cobre there was a hole with a rubber snubber over it and wires ran through there. We took that out ran our lines through there and that was it. It has a little box with a switch and thre LED's the Green one is to let you know when your rich this should be on a wide open throttle. The red one is for lean tis shouldnt be on at wide open throttle these will be on stoplight to stoplight dont worry about this. The Blue one is to let you know when the system is armed. This should be solid at wide open throttle. These lights stay on all the time. We mounted his by his left leg under the dash so you can still see the lights but not as noticable. Hope this helps out.

vortech you *****~!
you should've bought a two stage dry fogger like sled has on his 8 second motor so then you could come to the board and ask us what times you might run with a 50 shot and never go the track to see, but just do some computer racing......
would you PLEASE just run the damn car already?
then start trying to go faster

like it was said before the dry system just sprays nos into the manifold and has a higher likly hood for malfunction because you are reling on your computer to make sure that enough fuel is being mixed with the nos. With a wet system fuel and nos are being injected at the same time so there is less chance of a failure unless your lines are clogged or the fuel pump goes out

That is why i posted about the Venom kit it is one of the Best Dry kits and that is what he asked for. And certin types of manifolds arent the best to be flowing a wet system through. Because the feul will end up puddling up and then your manifold will crack when it explodes inside of it. Thats why we did a dry kit on the Cobra becuase its manifold isnt meant to fuel throgh like the wet system does. That why I think Dry kits are sometimes better becuase some manifolds will crack when the fuell puddles up and explodes. And thats why the Venom kit is good it ties into each injector and when it senses wide open throttle it pulses the injectors for more fuel. Thus when you are wide open throttle it is giving it more fuel to go with the Nitrous.
