Might help if I put the pic up

MdFormula350 01-23-2003 11:22 AM

never mind, thats pretty low! do the tires rub? :D

91Bird305 01-23-2003 11:24 AM

thats too low.

deadtrend1 01-23-2003 11:44 AM

if you put it that low, how would you get over speed bumps without sea-sawing them? :)

Viprklr 01-23-2003 11:49 AM

too low.

TransAm12sec 01-23-2003 12:15 PM

Ehh, its not bad imo. Maybe a different wheel size and tire combo would help.

Lets see if from the front.

Cruzin Kaz 01-23-2003 12:26 PM

Yeah a bit to low.. I can see you replaceing GFX really soon at that ride height. Looks cool but...

uk89camaro 01-23-2003 12:35 PM

Looks good to me:thumbsup:

it that achieved through lowered springs? Can the 3rdgens get air suspension?

devianb 01-23-2003 12:37 PM

In my opinion, a perfect dropped stance is when there is zero a just a tad bit of a gap between the top the the tire and the fender. What you seem to have is a negative ride height where the wheels looked tucked under the lip. I don't like that look. It is a bit low for me. I would rather take the stock ride height than have it slammed that much.

louie 01-23-2003 01:08 PM

Look good, now you should think about bigger rims and some low-pro tire, maybe.

bluegrassz 01-23-2003 01:10 PM

Would be nice if you were running air bags. With the option to raise it. But yeah, for car shows or just sitting around in the parking lot it looks good that low.

Sonar_un 01-23-2003 02:45 PM

Yeah, its a little too low, and an obvious photoshop jobbie too :P

Scania 01-23-2003 02:46 PM

Looks good to me.
I want to do that to my car

Kandied91z 01-23-2003 06:22 PM

you went and looked at my car didn't you.............:D

'89 IROC Vert 01-23-2003 09:27 PM

Looks to me like you could still drop another 2 inches before reaching the ground. I'm gonna go against the tide - drop it some more.

scrawnywhiteguy 01-23-2003 09:50 PM

I think I like the look of it that low, not very good for driving around though, I'd say w/ airbags it'd be cool, cause you could slam it when your parked and raise it back up when you're driving around. I for one wouldn't ever lower a car that much, unless it was gonna be a show car.

:hail:Tim

WillWood 01-23-2003 09:54 PM

thats way too low

85SportCoupeto89RS 01-23-2003 09:58 PM

Raise it up about 1.5 to 2.0 inches and it will be perfect. Soon I will be lowering my car as soon as I raise the funds for the project.

MetalliCamaroRS 01-23-2003 10:15 PM

I think it looks too low.

IROC57TPI 01-23-2003 10:17 PM

Ok...its low :D
Good thing its P.S.'d but I am going to get a set of springs this summer and don't want to go too low.

Thanks for all the comments.

yeah...that looks to low. Id go with a 1 3/4 inch drop...they look great dropped about that much.....here is a pic of my old 84 Z28 )1992 Z28 clone) Had it lower 1 3/4 inch with Eibach Sport Line Springs....it looked very aggressive!

Squeeks83 01-24-2003 12:08 AM

thats a good photoshop, but it would look sweet that low, just would get highcentered on pot holes :p

z28onTweenkies 01-24-2003 04:55 PM

Geez I really thought that was an actual picture its the first picture of an iroc thats lower then mine in the front. I still havent taken pictures of the iroc yet becuase im lazy but I tuck the 245-45-16's that are on the car right now (in the front). The rear might have been lowered a bit i'm not sure but it has a little bit of a rake. And yes, I need to replace my front spoiler its taken quite a few on the chin from the previous owner.

TexasLT1 01-25-2003 12:37 PM

trust me when I say you do not want it that low. When I first got my car the guy before me had cut the springs so low that it was seriously no travel in the front suspension. To reach the top of the tire under the fender you had to reach up and under the edge of the fender atleast an inch. The ride sucked, felt like an indy car, plus I couldn't drive over anything. By lowering it that low it sudeenly becomes a pain in the *** to drive it because you are always worried about scaping on something or ripping off the ground effects or something.

you gotta be kidding me....

87LB9B4Z 01-25-2003 02:50 PM

I agree with devianb. Just the tiniest gap above the wheels.

roxieshotrod 01-26-2003 10:47 AM

lay that baby on the ground (with air bags of course)! my hubbys s10 lays frame now (his winter project) and it looks SO nice. I never used to like things that low, but it grows on ya, and now I want to do it to mine next winter.. that is if I win the lotto. Air bags rule!

Andy Fanshawe 01-26-2003 11:26 AM

Is there such a thing as too low? Surely not.

:D :D :D :hail: :hail: :hail: :hail:

brodyscamaro 01-26-2003 11:32 AM

i agree with devianb just the tiniest gap

fast83camaro 01-26-2003 11:33 AM

Too low.....

Watch my red Camaro's web site for an answer to your question "Can the 3rdgens get air suspension?":D :D :D :D

He he!!
How low can you go?

Andy.

iroc2nv 01-26-2003 12:25 PM

i love it...

i wish that i could go lower with mine...(almost a 5 inch drop front and 4 on the back)

but the damned roads here are not forgiving when it comes to bumps...

i have to do it right and get sportlines...maybe even konis...depending on if they actually help lower the car...any ideas on the konis??

sorry to highjack your thread dude..

i say do it though

iroc2nv

87WS6 01-26-2003 04:23 PM

I think you should raise it a little bit. I don't typically like lowered cars especially when it's that far down. If your rubbing fenders you need to raise it.

johnyIROC 01-26-2003 04:31 PM

I _LOVE_ the look of a slammed thirdgen... but driveability would be an issue. I had my car low enough at one point that you couldn't roll a pop can under the chin spoiler.

TorchRay 01-26-2003 08:26 PM

yeah to low for my taste....IMO though......your car dude....make it the way you like it. :D

formul8!! 01-27-2003 12:17 PM

Go start collecting IROC front nose clips, you'll need them if it is that low.

Also, if you notice when a car is "slammed"like that, the ride becomes very uncomfortable because of no suspension travel.

FyreLance 01-27-2003 02:25 PM

Looks cool but probably pretty impractical.

Dale 01-27-2003 02:25 PM

Yea, needs to go lower :D If its not throwing sparks, its not low enough!!!!! :D

True mini trucker, lol.

But on serious note, if its dialy driver, that is two low. Whoever said tire even with fender lip, or finger between tire/fender lip is right. Best for ride and apperence.

Kandied91z 01-27-2003 05:28 PM

you sure are getting some opinions mike! :D

i say go lower.........cut the fenders and rework the suspension so you can sit the frame on the ground! who needs gfx's... :D

denis 01-28-2003 10:20 PM

Perfect!

now can someone Photochop a white formula like that?

much appreciated

camaro3 02-11-2003 07:12 AM

Its nice but you might not like it.

I own a '88 IROC-Z and mine islower then that. I am tucking 45 series tires int he front on stock 16"IROC-Z Wheels, and in the rear about .5" away from tucking 55 series. I Chopped my springs, cutting 1 1/2 Coils out of the front & 3 in the rear. The car rode pretty good, but I lost a ****load of turning radius, and it bottoms out alot, and what will really hit that low is your cat, you can gurantee it. Another thing, have fun jacking it up or getting it on a hoist. You cant just lift it, you have to jack it up from the horns on the front & behind the rear tire on the pinch weld. It ****ing handles mint though, but I am redoing my whole car, and for this spring I plan to have the Eibach Drag Spring kit installed.

Steve89GTA 02-11-2003 08:48 AM

You'll have serious traction problems going that low. The car might look good parked but it won't look so hot when a civic si takes you off the line cause you can't put the power down and hook up!

Zepher 02-11-2003 09:47 AM

This is a good height,

Knight350 02-11-2003 11:43 AM

Looks amazing, but it will ride like a box cart!
:D

denis 02-11-2003 02:17 PM

Zepher,
what did you have to do in order to fit those particular 4th gen rims under your car?

wkeilnj 02-11-2003 02:41 PM

IMO the lower the better!

Zepher 02-11-2003 08:39 PM

I put 2.25" wheel adaptors on all 4 corners. I didn't need that size for the rear, but I knew that I was getting a 4th gen rear and that it would be easier to sell 2 wheel adaptors sized for the front.
