Need help with the dreaded OBD 1.5

Just rebuilt the 3.4 engine in my '95 Camaro and the service engine light is on. It has OBD I with the OBD II port. Actron has discontinued the 9145 scanner and I really don't want to spend the $350 on Ebay! I found an in interface cable to use with my laptop, and there is a bunch of software out there. Has anyone used any of the diagnostic software that will pull the codes?

Can you not pull the codes the reg way by jumpering the terminals in the ALDL connector?

TunerPro

has a file for your car

but you primarily use that sort of software to datalog so you can tune your car

Jumping pins wont work for 4th gens, tried that with my 95 Formula. Ended up soldering an OBDI ALDL in with the OBDII ALDL so any OBDI scanner could read it
