hard top conversion to t top?? ok i hav an 87 sport coupe im cloning to mimic a 85-90 RS, i hate hard tops, my iroc is t tops and i so wish my sport coupe was too, i dont wana sell it and buy a t top one.. soo is there a way i can make mine t top? the right way not hacked up? |
Re: hard top conversion to t top?? https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/body/648870-t-tops.html Yes you can make yours a T-top car.The right way not hacked up? I think that would depend on your definition. You should call around to local fabrication shops and see what they think, unless your planning on trying yourself. But remember, anything is possible if you can afford to pay for it |
Re: hard top conversion to t top?? Yeah but aftermarket t-tops never work like originals & they leak. I've seen it happen. It's gonna be pricey. |
Re: hard top conversion to t top?? One more thread on a very good way to do it is here: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/body...-top-roof.html He has some good pictures and explains real well exactly what he did and why. Most commenting said this seemed the best way to do this. |
Re: hard top conversion to t top?? T tops are cool, no doubt. They are also unique. But if it was me, i'd consider lopping off the whole roof for a convertable. Or big sunroof (because its simple). But thats just me |
Re: hard top conversion to t top?? The frame on a car with t-tops is reinforced from the factory. Cutting the roof of a hard top, you'll lose rigidity and could bend the frame. Be carefull. |

Re: hard top conversion to t top?? t-tops are not more reinforced from factory but you deffently need to weld in reinforcmentor find a way to keep it streight after cutting the roof . seen ppl try to make targa tops from a t-top, good idea but only seen it successful a few times. best way in my opinion is to cut the roof of of one and put it on urs so in the end it would be a lot cheaper because of already buying another car best way buy a t-top f bodie that is striped for a few 100 bucks and swap your stuff over |

Re: hard top conversion to t top?? if u got fios or direct tv, do a search for west coast customs episode, the did a red camaro for rascal flatts, hard top to t-top... one of the most compicated builds i ever seen! u gotta have good knowledge of cutting, welding, measurements , etc.... good luck http://www.westcoastcustoms.com/pod-...flatts-camaro/ |
Re: hard top conversion to t top?? How bout a t-top to hard top???? Anyone ever tried??? Sorry for the hijack. |
Re: hard top conversion to t top?? I would trade for one straight up with someone that wants a hardtop instead. Do it to one that is in the same relative condition as yours for a easy and fair trade. No expensive headaches either. |
