Personally unless you're doing the dash as well, I think the 4th Gen door panels look out of place. But I'm thinking if you really don't want to mold anything then you could prolly make a flat black panel, leave the trim and all off and then put the 4th gen on top of that.

So something like what I made, but leave the plastics off and put the other panel on top of it, anywhere the 4th panel doesn't cover the door completely would still blend in i would think.

Well being that I have a GTA and 4th gen panels are based off the GTA panels I think it will look fine.

There is plenty of threads on this. They do not work and are not worth the bother in stock form. You have to do extensive reworking and basically make a new replica panel for proper fit. You will however come across a few people on here that try argue they do fit, but only post selective shots and never answer requests for pictures of other areas.

Re: 4th gen door panel pics

As far as fiberglassing and molding go, I am decent at that. I sorta want to do what a member on here Shr00m did with his (except for having that many speakers in both doors that is). My main reason for wanting pictures though is that I kinda want to get a sense of what they look like after all the molding. Reason I am going with them is that they are plastic and therefore they don't seperate like my GTA panels have three times already. I actually tried making my own panels using the GTA ones that separated on me the first time and I combined that with the 4th gen armrest... It didn't look as good as I hoped it would. That was mainly due to the fact that I just covered the whole thingin vinyl and didn't take time to get the fit and finish proper. Then the mounting for the black molded trim broke and I gave up on them. Now the almost mint like panels that I have had for a year are beginning to seperate (vinyl from cloth and cloth from cardboard).

I think the GTA door panels are the best you can get in a third gen. They fit properly(unlike 4th gen panels), and they look very similar to the panels used in the Ferrari F12.

Very nice example of what you can do with them.

Pic for comparison.

Some old shots of the 4thgens I attempted to run. Which was a GIANT waste of time. Not to mention what you have to do to the car to even get them to slide on like this. Everytime you close the doors you feel the plastic jamming/compressing. I hated it. This was the same car in the early stages. It went through a huge transformation front to back. Plus color change.

I went through a few trials years back

Biggest problem was figuring a way to make a cap for the rear of the 4thgen armrest just with the way the inner frame of the armrest is hollowed out. I ended up selling the car so the project stopped at this, which was very presentable in person but not what I had in mind 100%

Re: 4th gen door panel pics

Wow, I should have done something like that with those old GTA panels I sorta salvaged. The only thing is that the mount for where the trim mounts was missing and/or broken.
I like those panels though- you did a really good job.
