Stock Neon SRT-4 Turbo

Quick question. Is implementing the stock turbo charger from a neon srt-4 doable? Or practical?

iirc the srt4 turbo is not removeable from the manifold...of course im sure there is a way. i asked the same question a long time ago and i think everyone said it would be to small of a turbo even for my v6 motor

It's doable, but not worth the effort. Too much heat would be generated from such a small turbo trying to keep up with an engine much larger to that of an SRT4....

So there would be no gains? Also what about the turbo on my cobalt? It is a larger flowing K04 Borgwarner turbo. It pushes 260HP stock with 15PSI. I could acquire a second one of these

It pushes that much boost pressure through a smaller engine. Once you substantially increase the diameter of the intake tract, as well as cubic inch displacement, that turbo will simply run out of steam. You'll make boost, yes, but the turbo will be maxed out, with the byproduct being heat. Twins could definitely be a consideration though....

i would say no on the srt4 turbo, to small to much effort as stated

the cobalt one may be better but its still on a much smaller motor(which motor are you trying to turbo?)

you might be better off getting a knock off ebay turbo, they are cheap and lots of people have had good luck with them. of course some of them are horrible to i think its mostly luck getting a good one. im running one and got lucky with a good one

try looking for some holset turbos off of cummins diesels. my hy35 looks pretty big. hx35 is more something for a v8 car.

i believe the srt-4 turbo has an exhaust housing incorporated into the exhaust manifold bolted to the head. you can remove the guts of the turbo, but in order to use it on another car you would need to come up with an exhaust housing with a t3 flange or whatever.
(im 90% sure on this- my PT cruiser is this way, and they are basically identical engines aside from the intake manifold.)

besides. the srt turbo is waaayyyyyy too small for a v8. hell its too small for the srt 2.4
