Thirdgen Fest is held every Memorial Day weekend in Crete, IL (about 40 minutes south of Chicago). This year it is Friday and Saturday, May 25th and 26th. (It will be pushed back to Sunday or Monday in the event of rain.) 2012 will be our eleventh year and the event continues to get bigger and better every year. We have had over 70 cars a year attend in the past and hope to have a better turnout this year. With more exposure due to our website, facebook, as well as our sponsorship here on TGO we are hoping for a big turnout for 2012!!! Its always on Memorial day weekend. Dates to be announced in 2013, its still 2012 and the car season isn't even over yet. |
Re: 2013 gen fest I'm in Detroit and have never driven my car that distance before. I may have to! Because street car! |

Re: 2013 gen fest I have yet to make it to one of these gatherings. I might have to try and come down this year. Car isn't done but I would like to come down and see what everyone is doing with their cars. |
Re: 2013 gen fest Plenty of time to finish it. Or trailer it nonrunning because you blow it up racing the weekend before....not like I'd do that ever. |

Then again, my car has been at my fathers broken since before TGF and is dirty. Some of the dirt is hard packed on top of the paint. Going to take a bit to clean it off. Probably a few warm water sprays with some soap to break up the junk and wash it away before i can think about taking a mitt to it. |
Re: 2013 gen fest my car will have alot of go fast bolt ons this year. hope to finish all of them before the fest. |
Re: 2013 gen fest Well, just registered. Hope to see you guys there....also hope I'll be in my '83 Z28 and not my Challenger....lots to do. Not a lot of hub-bub about the fest so far this year. Maybe the Thirdgens are to the point where these meets will get smaller instead of bigger?? |
Re: 2013 gen fest It'll go just fine. Usually does. |
Re: 2013 gen fest I went last year with no thirdgen, but hopefully if I get this knock fixed I'll be bringing my 1988 Firebird Formula......heres a picture from last year to get everyone fired up. http://i48.tinypic.com/j10okp.jpg |

I'll be at TGF this year for the first time and I am riding down with IROC 87; he also says there are a few TGOers from the north Chicago suburbs meeting us and we're all cruising together... so I am checking in at least 3-4 thirdgens for this year... will be buying my registration next week. |

Check where the rod sits on the pin. If it pops off there it'll dangle just like you say. Anywhere else and the clutch should still be attached, just not firm. I have done some reading and it seems this is a problem that sometimes surfaces over the years. When I bought this car a year ago the owner said the "linkage was worn, so it was welded and reinforced with a zip tie" Well I'll bet that part failed.. So take off the plastic underdash and see what the hell is going on? |
Re: 2013 gen fest If its a completely stock T5 setup then its likely the retaining clip was lost years ago. All that holds the clutch rod on the pedal pin is a simple spring loaded retaining clip (BTW, thats a GM only part as far as I know). If you are in a pinch a heavy duty zip tie works just as well. I use a zip tie on my GTA because the 4th gen rod doesn't sit nice on 3rd gen pedals. The ID of the bushing was too small. I need to take some measurements with a digital caliper and drill out a delrin bushing and it should solve that problem nicely. |
