Thirdgen Fest is held every Memorial Day weekend in Crete, IL (about 40 minutes south of Chicago). This year it is Friday and Saturday, May 25th and 26th. (It will be pushed back to Sunday or Monday in the event of rain.) 2012 will be our eleventh year and the event continues to get bigger and better every year. We have had over 70 cars a year attend in the past and hope to have a better turnout this year. With more exposure due to our website, facebook, as well as our sponsorship here on TGO we are hoping for a big turnout for 2012!!!
Here what's planned for this year:
Friday, May 25th 7:00 pm --- Friday night party
Friday night is the party night. The Friday night party is basically just your average summer party. We will have a bonfire, pop, chips, etc. We will also have bean bag boards and other things to do. The party isn't really about the cars, it just gives people a chance to hang around and talk with other people who love thirdgens. It works great for people coming in from out of town that have nothing to do Friday night.
Saturday, May 26th Noon --- Thirdgen Fest '12
Saturday is the actual event day. The first 100 cars registered will receive a goodie bag with a Thirdgen Fest '12 keychain and other items. We provide all you can eat food and drink all day. Each car attending is assigned a number and you will get a car information sheet to display will your car.
Trophies are awarded in ten categories:
Best Camaro: Stock
Best Camaro: Modified
Best Firebird: Stock
Best Firebird: Modified
Best Paint
Best Interior
Best Engine
Best Restoration
Best Project
Best of Show
The stock and modified classes have trophies awarded for first through third place. The other six classes are first place only. Winners are chosen through participant voting. Each registration packet includes a ballot for the owner to vote for the car they feel is best in each category.
We also have a raffle at the end of the day. (Prizes have not been decided yet.) Each registration packet includes one raffle ticket and additional tickets are available.
The day will end with a car cruise to one of the local cruise spots.
Registration packets for Thirdgen Fest '12 go on sale April 1st and are available through the day of the event. The early registration price is $35 per car and is available April 1st - May 10th. The cost increases to $45 per car if you register May 10th through the day of the event so it pays to register early. Your registration fee gets you into both days. Remember the fee is PER CAR, it doesn't matter how many people you have in your car. The registration packets also include a map and directions as well as motel/campground information for people coming from out of town.
This is an '82-'92 Camaro/Firebird only event. All other cars will be parked in a separate area. You can still attend without bringing a thirdgen, however, the same registration fees apply.
Thirdgen Fest is the biggest and longest running thirdgen event in the world. This is a great event and continues to get better every year!!!
More information will be posted as it becomes available.

I've heard lots of excuses over the years why people couldn't make it but this is the first time somebody used the "my grandma is getting married" excuse. Originally Posted by BlueZee28

Denny I will be there this year. My one year hiatus was one year to much, though the Camaro will not be in running by then.

I've been to Denny's a couple of times buying parts when I'm in Orland Park visiting.
It's just never over the Memorial Day long weekend.
Maybe this year.

Ice and Myself will prolly be taking I-70 into Indy then I-65N the rst of the way there.
Wecan Alter Our course to meet up with anyone that would like to join in on the ride and make it more fun.
I would love to get as many of us together as we can and make a Road Train \ 3rd Gen Convoy.
I can check the route and make a few planned stops for food and Entertainment along the way as well.
We can make this a small HotRod PowerTour of our own.
