"Location" for a search criteria?

With over 20,000 members here, I know there has to be a couple more people besides the couple that I know of that live in my area. Any possibly that this could happen? I really need to take on a new caliber of friends around here. All of the ones I have now are great but they couldn't tell the difference between a cranksaft and a camshaft. And if I try and explain anything more in depth then putting in gas or checking the oil, I get the deer in the headlights look. So that leaves me working on the car all by myself and whistling tunes that are stuck in my head.

I surf around the SE board pretty often but not many at all that are close, and I know that some people might not even go into TGO that often let alone the SE board. Thanks for the compliment on the car by the way. I have a T56 in the garage right now that will be going in once I get together some odd and end parts...and it will be getting a 4.10 posi around the same time. Should be fun.

Yeah we have 20,000 Members now, wow. I can remember when there was like 4,500 only.

You could also try www.fl-thirdgen.org. A lot of the regulars there are from your area, also the board is still in it's infancy, so the traffic is still pretty slow. But it's less strict on the non-tech/off-topic issue, so you'll have more luck finding some people like you around.

Also, www.nethirdgen.org, although in name is for the northeast, is actually the unofficial nontech board for this site and a lot of people from everywhere go there to shoot the shtuff.

For the most part though, to find a mechanically inclined bunch of people, you have to hit the dragstrip or a real performance shop. It's hard to find younger people with decent mechanical skills beyond installing air filters and writing checks.
