I mentioned this a while back. I've always noticed that we get about 2-3 new members about each day but they never post for some reason. I think that if we had a newbie forum, that is just to be used for saying hi "i'm xxxxxxx" and no other topics that we would get and keep new members. I've noticed that people are reluctant to post on a message board unless they can say hi or something to that note, and not just jump into the boards. Just my .02

I'm a newbie and have very little Tech knolwedge... actually "0" Tech Knowledge and have many questions some of which are not Tech related but experience related, for example. I bought my 88 IROC off of Ebay and am very excited about owning my first 3rd gen. Had no problems driving it the 320 miles home but noticed that when I would mash the brakes that the IROC would vear badly off to the right. I took her into my Auto Tech to have him fix the brakes. I was hoping the rotors weren't too bad off. Well both front rotors were shot, the passangers side had 3(!!!!!) cracks in it. The pads, calipers and brake lines all had to be replaced. My Tech, who is also a long time friend, said it was amazing I didn't get killed. Now I am not angry with the guy who sold me the car because it was I who should have had the car checked. But before I bought it I asked all the right questions i.e. T-Tops leak, doors sag, electronics, engine, rust, tires etc, but forgot to ask about the brakes. My point is that if they were that bad that it should have been stated in the auction that the bakes needed replacing. I will keep the rotors as a reminder! If this were you would you e-mail the guy and let him know you are "disapointed" is my question. Also as a non-Tech question would this go into the brakes forum.

Thank You,

FYI the Third Gen Site is awesome, I will spend plenty of time on it, thanks again.

Heaven forbid there be a non tech forum on this site half the time the flame wars are started by the mods or members who should know much better.

P.S. not referring to you Mark your post just fit oh and for a tech only board how come every real question I have ever asked or seen asked gets a lot of b.s. and no answers I can get better answers from my local car club board of about 35 regulars than everyone at thirdgen so whats up
