Slow Loading & Sponsor Adds

Is it me or has TH.O gotten really really slow on loading???

Its been that way for the last month or so. I have used dial up for ever and never had a problem before but now it takes forever just to get the sponsor add to load and then the forum loads.

It use to be super fast but now even taking a sec to wait, is taking to long. Not sure if the animated banners are getting bigger in file size or it just some bad HTML.

But TH.O is really really really slow loading on dial up now. Ans yes it just here, no other site I visit had had such a slow down in loading this last month or so.

Matt

Some questions I would ask myself before a change.
[If I owned the board]

I would say except for the new visitors, we all have seen them banner adds millions of times and is there really a need for them to all be at the top of the page?

Do they really need to be animated on every page?

Why no take donations and dump all the banner adds onto one vendor's page.

Do those banners really generate enough income to clog up the works for us poor dial up users.

Doesn't a big grouping of banner adds just look cheasy and is just another form of spam?

Don't you hate it your self when you goto a site and its filled with banner adds and active x controls, why run our site like that.

Every page takes 15 seconds or so to load for me. Thats depending if there are any pics, if there are then it could mean minutes I dont mind the ads, but I do dislike the animated part of them. 5/9 of them do that.

Thats because i'm on the slowest connection since 95' 28-35k Max!!! Thanks Alltel rural internet services of Arkansas

Looks like someone fixed it. I no longer need to reload the images every time I visit the site. I assume someone had a no cache tag in the page and removed it.

Only takes half a sec for the page to load now.

Now it was more like 2-3 mins and even then some add or the TH.O banner would not load.

Now it load in a split sec once the paged is cached. I only noticed the porlemd after some new banners add appeared but its seams fixed now.

It was allwasy a super fast loader.
