need to go to site twice to view anything?

every now and then when trying to go to thirdgen.org/techboard it takes me to
"https://www.thirdgen.org//home/httpd/vhosts/thirdgen.org/httpdocs/techboard"
then if I type if thirdgen.org/techboard again it goes straight to the site

What time of the day? What browser are you using? Let me know and I'll look into it.

We have quite a few sites, which one are you talking about in particular?

As to seeing the logs, I have access to them, but with the level of traffic that this site sees, it is difficult to monitor them.

As much as I browse this forum, I have not seen this issue. The only time I see the location of the website on TGO's server, is when there is a php error.

Yesterday around 6:30PM, there was an error on the forum index page, which resulted in a php parse error. When this was present, the //home/httpd/vhosts/thirdgen.org/httpdocs/techboard file location was displayed, along with the line number where the error was present. Dave fixed this error.

Was that what you was seeing?

I've seen a few of the above mentioned errors, but they were generally when Jason has been working on the website.

Don't think we should be respondsible for troubleshooting for browsers that are in beta stages. Sorry IE 7 users.
Are there any similar (non CSS) issues with Firefox or Safari?

Well, I'm here because I run this server.

Dave is here because I promoted him so he could work on the skin and all of the little glitchy template/style issues.

JT is here because Dirk wanted him here to keep the site content-fresh and keep the rest of us on track. That's good enough reason for me, especially since I don't know much at all about 3rd Gen cars and neither does Dave.

it's cool wasn't trying to rag on ya over it. if it helps the domain should be something carlson. I can try to do it a bunch of times in a row to make alittle moer traffic and easier to find.
right now I am at work using IE6 and this is where it happens most often. everytime I first go to the site at work is when it happens. from there on out it's fine

at home I use IE7 and see it sometimes but not too often

the site I'm refering to that I like someo f the stuff on is xoxide.com

And you are manually typing in "https://www.thirdgen.org/forums", exactly like that? Not leaving off the "www", using a trailing "/", or using a bookmark or something?

should of thought of that but no I'm not using the www. and I am not putting a ending / on there.
it is just plain "thirdgen.org/techboard" when it redirects me to the new link I leave just remove everything after the "https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/"

so just to clarify when using "www.thirdgen.org/techboard" it works
"https://www.thirdgen.org/forums works" by redirecting to "https://www.thirdgen.org/forums"

just seems it needs the www. on there. man you guys are making it hard for me to be lazy

would it be hard to redirect "thirdgen.org/techboard" to "www.thirdgen.org/techboard"

I know when using the old link at thirdgen.org/techbb2 it works ust fine with the redirect without using the www.

I just tried the following:

https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2
https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums
https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2
https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums

And all but the last one redirected perfectly to:

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/

When I hit the last one I get:

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums//hom...docs/techboard

Thanks for the info, I'll see what i can do to get the rewrite working.
